David Cameron 11 May 2010 on the steps of no. 10.

"Nick Clegg and I are both political leaders who want to put aside party differences and work hard for the common good"

Communists? Of course not!

Of course, I can find a couple instances of anyone saying that phrase. I'm glad you can to.

I can, however, find thousands upon thousands of communists and Marxists emphasising the need to work together for the common good as it's a core party of their ideology.

It's nothing like that at all. That's verbal reasoning, this is showing that the phrase and aim of "common good" was regularly used by Communist and Marxist ideologists. It's a core part of their ideology, a utopian desire.

One thing that has astounded me in the polling data is how many people in what you would think would be staunch Labour areas have ended up voting UKIP. I really cannot begin to understand how anyone would think that was an intelligent thing to do. The chances of UKIP winning seats were almost non-existent and they've ended up helping the Tories back in. Well done people. Democracy in action.

The way the libdem voters have gone over to ukip does show that most people voting for 3rd parties don't do it cos of policies (cos the libdems and ukip share none) but just as a protest vote.

Its a football forum mate, he doesnt really have to weasel out of anything, he can just log out for the might and every one will be back on footy, beer and birds tomorrow.
Don't you get it? There is no beer or football and the birds are all frigid right wingers who won't have sex with me because I'm not an investment banker.

This is literally the end of days.

Clearly people felt that Labour did not represent their views and the Conservatives were not a viable alternative.

Is it really democracy though? When a party can get ~4,000,000 votes and win one seat, is that democratic?

Its the only saving grace of our democracy. Still one seat too many though.

True enough, but it's also an idea which exists outside of Marxist ideology, for example when two schools decide to collaborate to bring in outside agents, sharing the cost, or if four strangers decide to share a cab from an airport into the city instead of them all buying train tickets. Or a neighourhood watch scheme, for heaven's sake....

You're attempting to demonise something that happens all the time in the most benign of ways.

Hmm. It seems we have different views on democracy.

See, I believe that a a party's vote share should determine their representation in parliament. UKIP got 13% of the vote so they should have 13% of the seats. Hell, if the Greens or bloody CPGB got 13% of the votes they should have 13% of the seats, because that's true democracy. I wouldn't like it but I wouldn't go as far as saying disproportionate representation is a "saving grace of democracy".

So, it's 'rich & poor, whatever' now is it?

Wasn't before. It was just the BENEFIT SCROUNGERS.

That's why I pulled you, because you're trying to weasel your way out of it. You have a chip on your shoulder about people who have less than you do. In essence, you think you're better than all of them. you think you can generalise about them.

Well here's the news: You're not & you can't.

I mentioned scroungers and tax avoiders in the same sentence.

Rich and poor.

Incidentally, can I just say how proud I am to have been an active part of a grass-roots campaign that ousted a Lib Dem MP to replace her with a Labour MP with a near 12,000 majority.

Carry on.

If ukip and others could actually get seats like that there vote would go up by quite a bit .

I see where you're coming from, but working together for the common good is, informally put, rule number one of communism. When someone's post essentially says "I wish people put aside their personal desires and voted for a party that will get people working together for the common good to help the poor and working class", my seditious senses start tingling.

Just had to explain to my sister, working mother of two children, one of whom is disabled, that she's well and truly fooked.

Not a nice thing to have to say at all.
