2024/25 Relegation Battle (Without Everton!)

Won at Brentford last season and their home form is tailing off now so surprised that's the only defeat you've gone for in next five.

Ndiaye will be a big miss for the aways at Palace and Wolves imo. Would be like taking Cunha out of the Wolves team for that match and instantly everyone would expect at least a draw.

I'll go for a cautious 5 points from that lot so 32 with nine games still to play so would require a disastrous end of season to go down from that point.

we aren’t going down with moyes

Oh I agree but it could still get edgy with no wins in the next five for instance. Probably had more points on the board after 24 games in 21/22 for instance and we all know what a close call that became although completely different feel around the team now with the Moyes effect compared to that time.

We had 29 points after 33 games that season so no.

Just checked and surprised me that 21/22 the team was on 22 points after 24 games that season. I had it in my mind it was 26/27 points and then keep on losing and edging nearer to bottom 3 especially given the first three months.

Team will have enough without Ndiaye I'm sure and GD is also miles better than everyone else below so this is when it actually is a further point on the table.

Yeah as I've just said I had it in my mind that season FSW was sacked on 21/22 points in January and then Lampard came in and won a couple at home but I was confusing the Brentford win in the cup for a prem win!

So when you think of the two great escape seasons in recent times the team are comfortably outperforming those seasons and the bottom 3 teams also nowhere near the points of those ones.

Of course it's all different with Dyche still here. Probably would only be on 21/22 now and that probably feels optimistic as I doubt the team would've come out on the front foot as much v Spurs if he'd still been here.

We were on 23 points and 2 points above the drop. Gd was worse too.

Funnily enough Newcastle were third from bottom at the time, tied on points with Burnley. So in theory Leicester and Wolves could put a run together like they did. But neither club were bought by a petrostate, bought decent players or have a half decent manager. So I think we can pretty much say we will be ok.

It was a strange relegation battle as Leeds and Burnley did actually pick up quite considerably from Feb onwards.

If we take final 14 games Burnley took 14 from them and 7 from the previous three so the traditional Dyche season starting in November relegated them in the end.

Leeds sacked Bielsa around this time and took 15 points from final 14.

Even doing better than a point a game is only going to get likes of Ipswich and Leicester to 30/31 points now and don't think either are up to it. Think Wolves will start pulling clear from bottom 3 from March onwards as they have plenty of winnable games left at Molineux.
