2024/25 Relegation Battle (Without Everton!)

If Wolves appeal the red card then he’ll play against us won’t he? I haven’t seen it, would they even be allowed to appeal it if he’s basically battered someone?
What is there to appeal about? I don't know if appeals that are deemed 'frivolous' are still punished with an extended ban? Wolves best bet would be to cooperate and keep fingers crossed.

I dunno but I could see them being awkward and throwing in an appeal just to get him on the pitch against us. They did it last time when he battered a steward just so they could have him for the next game, but knowing the appeal would be rejected.

….its more likely to end with an extended ban for a frivolous appeal.

Even Man Utd having a season that is beyond the worst dreams of probably most of their fans not that they were ever in danger.

It shows to at least some degree that football is still cyclical, and if you wait long enough, what goes round comes round.

I did think that we would go down eventually just because we've flirted too often with it now. The fact that we have not, and come through with a new stadium and new ownership, is something to be really proud of in my opinion.

BUT: our struggles have to have had a purpose. That we not only overcame them but emerged, finally, in the 4th decade of the Premier League, as a club set up to compete, from top to bottom. It's said that too much suffering is wasted. We should not allow that to happen to us, again.

All of the other Premier League ever-presents have had huge success by our standards. Spurs have not but they've been operating in a different universe to us and were one of the scab Super League clubs. Other non-ever presents have overtaken us too as we know.

We have to look now at being a fixture in the Top 10, and using our comparative pulling power to put clubs like Brighton behind us. There is quite a bit of flux in football at present and if we can do slightly better and break the top 8, have a really good season and we could replicate Villa or Newcastle.

We have to be playing in Europe regularly too. I'd have scoffed at the Conference League a few seasons ago, but if we managed to qualify there really isn't any excuse not to win that.

There is no way he can win an appeal for that. Probably 2 red card offences in the same incident

It’s not about winning the appeal though, like last time they appealed simply to delay the suspension and have him available for the next league game. It takes about 2 weeks for the appeal decision to be concluded so the suspension wouldn’t start until that.

But I don’t know what the rules are on what you can and can’t appeal.

I think that all parties will see the referee's report, which I suspect will refer to aggravating offences, rather than one specific offence. In which case, it's difficult to see grounds for an appeal. I can't see Wolves risking it anyway, but who knows?

The big difference here being that Cunha didn't actually receive a red card against Ipswich.

Zero chance that Cunha plays against Everton, and I also highly doubt that Wolves would even waste their time with an appeal.

IIRC he did receive a red card against Ipswich, but it was after the final whistle, so instead of it being a 'category offence' with a stipulated sanction, he was charged with something or other which in turn led to the strange 2 game ban after a hearing. Today's red card was on the pitch which should mean an instant 4 game ban as a starting point (2nd red) but with a likelihood of additional games because of the conduct after his dismissal.
