2024/25 Relegation Battle (Without Everton!)

Massive blow that for wolves that Cunha being sent off like that, I don’t think they would waste their time with an appeal as they would want him available against the teams below them.

IIRC he did receive a red card against Ipswich, but it was after the final whistle, so instead of it being a 'category offence' with a stipulated sanction, he was charged with something or other which in turn led to the strange 2 game ban after a hearing. Today's red card was on the pitch which should mean an instant 4 game ban as a starting point (2nd red) but with a likelihood of additional games because of the conduct after his dismissal.
Nah he somehow didn't actually get a red against Ipswich, even after the final whistle

If you’re McKenna, Cunha has just handed you the best team talk he could’ve wished for. Their next 4 games are their most winnable, and they’ll be without their match winner. Gets tougher for them after that.

Saints and Leicester are both dead and buried. Know the foxes are on the same points as them but they can’t score, can’t defend and have a horrendous fixture run. Ipswich look to have the most about them, though that’s possibly skewed by me really rating Delap and wanting him here.

It would be most lovely if Ipswich stayed up at the expense of Wolves.

PS can't believe there is a high chance of Tom Davies being a Premier League player again next season (Sheffield United, currently second). Shocking.

I'd like Burnley and Sheffield United to finish 1-2, then Coventry to upset Leeds to take the playoff spot.

Just thinking during the night (painful I know), and wanted to get others thoughts..... If my maths serve me right, the very earliest we can be mathematically safe is after 31 games.

This is of course providing we win our next 4 games (44 points) and both Leicester and Ipswich lose their 4 (17 points). 21 points left to play for at this point. I also understand they cannot overtake us if same happens for next 3 games as goal difference is massive, but not mathematically safe still.

Anyhow, what match week do you think we will be mathematically safe? I guess this feels better than typically expecting it to go down to MW 37/38.

I would go for after MW 32. Expect we will be at the 40 point mark ish by then. With Leicester picking up 0 points and Ipswich maybe 3 against Wolves. Gap will be 23 and 20 points respectively with only 18 left to play for!

Hopefully he holds out a bit longer and then gets banned in time for when they play us

Doubt he's banned playing v us as we are game 35, unless he gets a straight red beforehand, plus game is in May, either way it wont matter as its a game we should win and be way confirmed as safe by then

  • Five yellows accumulated before match week 19 results in a one-match ban.
  • Ten yellows accumulated by week 32 will result in a two-match ban.
  • Fifteen yellows by week 38 means a three-match ban.
  • Twenty yellows in a season can result in the Regulatory Commiss
