2024/25 Relegation Thread

Palace are a good side. Few players have been out of form but they will be fine.

I think Saints and Ipswich go plus one of Leicester or Wolves. I must be watching a different team to others. Wolves have a couple of good players but they are a gash side. Yes, they have had a difficult run of fixtures but 2 draws and 7 losses from 9 games is shocking regardless. Hopefully Palace turn them over next week and a nice professional away win at St Mary's will do nicely.

Im the opposite with Wolves. They've played City. Liverpool. Chelsea. Arsenal and Villa. I think they will climb the table.

Needs to be Leicester, Southampton, Ipswich going down. Palace and Wolves are in false positions.

We simply therefore must not lose to Southampton on the weekend. If we can beat all of those teams at home, we’ll be OK.

Can't be losing to them at Goodison again.

When people look at why this club is constantly stuck in bottom half now it's because of not beating any of Wolves, Fulham or Brighton at home anymore. Go back five years and those were all the regulation home wins you need to be on fringes of a European challenge.
Fulham and Brighton have stepped up a gear though in recent seasons and can no longer be classed as easy home wins.
We've stagnated and that's the problem.

I am not so sure about Wolves. Their poor form started at the end of last season and has continued. They don't have much squad strength and if they got a decent offer for any of their better players in January, like Cunha, I imagine they would sell.

Then who is?

Because we’re running out of other teams at this rate

It’s going to just be us, Saints and Ipswich

Wolves are going to go on a run imminently

Whose the 4th or 5th that’s going to be down there with us?

3 promoted teams and Wolves until they string some results together. We are 7 clear of Wolves currently. They have home games against Palace and Southampton next up so we will likely get a better picture in the next few weeks.

3 promoted teams must be favourites to go back down though.

We will need a nice cushion going into December.

Easy wins no but would you set an Everton team up to play on the counter against Fulham at home ? They finished 13th last year , thirteenth and they arrived at goodison on the back of two defeats .

I don’t expect us to be top four, I don’t expect us to be prime Real Madrid but li can’t process the idea that a 94th min snatched equaliser at home against Fulham is a good day

Again this season the promoted teams seem to be very poor. Ipswich might just begin to clock up the defeats now after a few draws and Southampton in particular a way off the pace. There`s a lot of teams within 3 points of each other just above the bottom 3. I would like to see how long we will see Man U down there. They used to have a fear factor when Ferguson was there but that is long gone and there`s plenty of teams that fancy themselves against them home and away.

As some others have said, if you are going to exclude Palace and Wolves from relegation, who does that leave exactly apart from us and the promoted three.

I do think Palace will be absolutely fine, Wolves less, so thats one perhaps.

Ipswich and Saints will go, I think Leicester will be more dogged. On the evidence of Saturday, we will find it hard to establish a gap between us and them or whatever side it is in 17th.

Saturday was a terrible reminder of just why we are where we are. Fulham are no big deal and we couldn't or didn't want to give them a game. There are no free hits in this league, that's clear at least for us. If we had played them in April and the table was tight I could understand tension but I can't find anything redeeming in that performance, other than they did eek out a thoroughly undeserved point in the end. Dyche will sack himself in the end with these performances and he cannot have any complaints.

Wolves and Palace are as much still in it as we are. Wolves haven't won a match yet and Palace have 3 less points than us.

I do tend to agree those teams will improve and pick up results but until that happens, we can't entirely rule out the chance of them.being in trouble.

Leicester are only level on points with us too.

The main thing for us is to go win matches ourselves. It's only a quarter of the way through the season. We need to focus on ourselves. Every point matters when you are down the bottom. Even picking up a completely undeserved point like on Saturday.

We can't be caught up in other results in the autumn. That's something you think about if you're still in trouble come the new year.
