2024/25 Relegation Thread

We're sleepwalking to the Championship. The levels of complacency have been staggering this season even when the signs have been staring us in the face since the Bournemouth game.

This protracted takeover has been a massive reason for this. There has been an assumption that all is now well because it's only a matter of time. But the matter of time is now key. If they cannot get in by the January window, we're in serious danger. And then the new stadium has been like opium for the fanbase. There are more videos of the stadium than there have been minutes on Match of the Day. The team is sinking, but we're all hooked up on drone videos as a salve.

The way this is heading is we'll get our new American owners and our shiny new stadium and find ourselves, somehow, kicking off against Plymouth Argyle by the river come August.

Yes with hindsight. He had had a slow start to the season and seemed to be slowing.

You kind of assume people would read between the lines and understand it to refer to that moment of time, but seemingly not. It appears you have to spell every connotation out.

I did clarify at the time what it referred to as well. But seemingly that gets missed as well!

But it was wrong at that moment in time as well?

I think it is more than possible that a lot of the players have just stopped buying into the Dycheball nonsense. We have a centre forward strolling about the place who never looks like scoring, but, is never in danger of being dropped. One of our better players and most senior players, Pickford, screaming at Dyche to make a change, I think the players are just no longer inclined to do the insane amount of work required to make Dyche's tactics, for want of a better word, successful. They know Dyche is a Deadman walking and that the longest he will be here is the end of the season, so they will no longer run themselves into the ground for him.

I really think the relationship between the squad and Dyche ha steadily deteriorated since the infamous slapping of Patterson. He is so stubborn and arrogant that having to work with him on a daily basis must be challenging. The closer he gets to the end of his contract, the less authority he will command, that is a huge problem for a control freak. He really has to go now, if not, the cracks that are appearing will develop into chasms.

Hope sacking Cooper pushes Leicester over a PSR cliff, maybe they are already over and willing to hang for a sheep as a lamb.
The thing with that is it will go on new years accounts, not for this season. So whatever his sacking added to wont be know till in a year or more time. There have been rumours for a while that they will already be over when accounts are published in a few months for last season etc, like everything we will find out when its announced

Time to buckle in for another horrible relegation scrap I'm afraid where no one can relax at all, whilst those c***s across the park look like they will win the league this year. My only hope is that, similar to Newcastle a few years ago when they were down the bottom, Saudis came in, got a new manager and a few players and they started to climb the table. Howe took over from Bruce (another old school dinosaur) in early November 2021 when they were 19th and 5 pts off safety...

We had Ancelotti once.

Yes mate. A charge would be in 05/06! 100% ;)

In his first half season here, we were 1 swing of Doucoure's boot from being relegated. That's not a job well done, that's Russian roulette going your way.

Last season, points deductions included, we were still better off than ShefU and Burnely who got 8 wins between them as two of the worst sides in Prem history. We don't have that luck this season, there are no 2 or 3 teams miles worse than us.

We're 1/3 of the way through this season, we've got 2 wins, scored 10 goals (joint 2nd lowest in the league), we've thrown away wins against the likes of Bournemouth and Leicester, failed to beat the likes of Saints and Brentford and West Ham and Fulham and now we've got a month of nightmare fixtures that could realistically return 0 points for a team that doesn't even look like it's been sent out to win a match half the time.

If you can't see the writing is on the wall with a guy whose primary focus and concern is on trying not to lose moreso than trying to win, then I don't know what to tell ya.

You have to look at the situation he inherited in 22/23. It was a weaker squad than Lampard had given Gordon was sold and not replaced. He at least decided to bring back Doucs which was an inspired decision with his goals in the run in.

I think the problem now is his sterile set up has passed its sell by date with the squad and crowd and people are just bored and the season is just comprising now of endless low scoring draws and defeats while the other bottom teams are starting to regularly pick up points (Ipswich, Wolves).

With the Leicester managerial change this is a very dangerous part of the season and could end December firmly in the bottom three with the next manager having a big challenge to keep the club up.

That's the problem with giving him another five games imo. Personally I'd have already sacked him like Leicester have done with Cooper. I struggle to see how he survives not beating Wolves as Goodison will turn big time on the final whistle if that's a poor result/performance.

All about the takeover they will be looking at results but until is signed and done nothing will happen. Have said in another post that it would not surprise me if it is not unitl the forest game on the 29th that he goes. Is doing very little to convince anyone is just getting draws to slightly keep pressure off

Didnt want to like this but honestly is true, crazy what this club has turned into the last couple of seasons pathetic.
Is this worse than our 90s period? 2 last day escapes in 5 years, but in the middle of that was an FA Cup win and a top 6 finish?

Worst post war Everton?

For me it has but others might say different just been abit of everything for me team lack of any real excitement, managers alot have been unlikeable here, the whole ownership mess, ffp making us worry over a points deuction. Then whate it been 3/4 years of a relegation fight. Just hope this can be the end of it after this season stay up and build something but again is going have to be a fight and we need see that from this team like last season
