We all panic a bit when we lose and assume all teams below will win their games all of the time… this is far from the case though.
Wolves and Ipswich are now going along at 0.6ppg. Obviously you can’t rely on them maintaining that but if they did at that pace we would have to lose eight on the spin for either to catch us. A five point gap doesn’t feel like much but given the value of each point at that end of the table it’s a big gap. The significance of the game against Wolves is massive.

We're lucky (again)
That teams like Ipswich, Wolves Southampton etc are worse than us.....A pessimist would say we're six points of relegation.... an optimist would say we're six points of top half....I'm a middleist...I just say we're mediocre!
Fccck me that was hard to type in!

I’m not sure if it is luck.

I actually think we should be on more points. The performances v Bournemouth Southampton and Brentford deserved more than 1 point. Whereas I think the only points we’ve been lucky to gain is perhaps the one v Fulham. But ultimately you get what you get and despite our many limitations there’s games when we’ve been solid defensively and in Pickford and Branthwaite have quality that some teams at the bottom don’t have.

I think it puts us ahead of that group of 4 at the bottom (hopefully). We seem to be saying it every season that the teams promoted have been rubbish but Leicester Leeds and Southampton were all prem teams when they went down. Burnley were being spoken about as one of the best teams ever in the championship, Leicester came up with a very good record, Ipswich were well thought of, it’s only really been Luton and Sheffield United who everyone said looked a poor outfit when they came up.

Wolves vs Ipswich this weekend
Leicester vs Wolves the weekend after

Draws in the games above would be ideal.

With our next 3 I really cannot see us picking up a point. Snatching a draw somewhere maybe but if one of Ipswich or Wolves pick up a win we are back to looking over our shoulder. It will be massive if by January we are still away from the bottom 3. Our January fixtures look tough as well. The next 8 fixtures are really challenging.

Mate every game is a challenge, especially under this manager.

I don't even fancy us against Peterborough in the cup 😂

You have to bear in mind that with the forthcoming fixtures we will end 2024 with 14 points. It’s not terribly reassuring.

You've tarted that up a bit to sound like we're somewhat unlucky. Having watched the whole season thats not the case at all. The 1 point you're talking about isnt just a matter of shrugging off as casual you ultimately get what you get. It was terrible. Im half hoping Southampton beat someone soon so i havent got to keep being reminded Everton is their only win. Brentford never lost a player 5 minutes from the end. Before HT down to 10 and still to be their one single point picked up on the road is another horrible Everton stat. Bournemouth. Lol. Lets not even go there.
Didnt deserve fulham point is right. Didnt deserve Newcastle point imo. West ham wasnt great. Lucky at the end holding on to that point. Complete non performances against brighton spurs united.
You're sort of insinuating everythings not that bad and its not luck that we're out of the bottom 3. Thats head in the sand stuff. Our wins are all teams below us. We've not played any of the current top 5. Everyone around us has played your Man Citys liverpools Arsenals Chelseas.
We've underperformed given the fixtures.

It will be the games against the bottom group that decide our fate and the stats tell us we have

- won our home games
- drawn our away games, defeat by Southampton offset by beating Ipswich

Reverse that in second half and we should target

Home - beat Ipswich, so'ton, Leicester and west ham - 12 points
Away - draws against palace, wolves - 2 points

That takes us to 28 points

We are going to need to get 8-10 more points, the opportunity games realistically are

Away - Bournemouth, Brentford, forest, Fulham - maybe pick up some draws
Home - potentially win against forest, potential points against villa, spurs or utd

A couple of 'unexpected results' in those set would help, the other games I'd write off personally and anything from them is a bonus, like that point we got at city under lampard

We're not mediocre, we're bad.

We're not lucky, those teams below us are awful.

You’ve tarted that up a bit to sound like we’re extremely lucky.

We’re where we probably should be in the table, could be a few higher, could be a few lower

All this trying to rationalise every point we’ve got as a lucky fluke is ridiculous.

As is aid after the Wolves game, this is the only fanbase I know that has people trying to convince others a 4-0 win was lucky.

The very fact I’m posting in a relegation thread means everything is obviously not alright, hasn’t been for years but as I said I believe we’re capable of moving away from the 4 below us.
