2024/25 Relegation Thread

See no reason why we cant give them a game and get a result. This team is alot better than results have shown

Said this untill out of it cant just say teams safe palace still massively in the race for the drop.

Agree with the home record had kept them up the table if that goes then with the away record could be in trouble.

I think the game v you lot will be particularly tough for us. You can beat anyone on your day. We’ve not beaten you since we got promoted and Sean Dyche knows us inside out - he lives next to our ground and watches us whenever he’s got a free evening.

We shall see.

Palace look a basket case.

Very much in this relegation fight.

IMO they'll win more games than us but they wont win an awful lot more and we are a team that can grind out draws.

I expect us to finish higher than them.

Didn't expect to see Palace conceding 5 today. Doubt anyone did

This is a really big confidence swapping defeat for Palace today. It's a game they would have been looking to avoid defeat in.

You can bet your last dollar, they are still in the battle to avoid the drop.

Saw their side before kickoff and thought it looked lightweight.

No Wharton, Chalobah, Eze or Doucoure.

Get them in the side and they'll look a different proposition.

Hopefully they get relegated though :)

got to be annoying sitting by them drums getting smashed by 5 goals lol

Whats the English words (i assume) theyre chanting along to the Italian ultras song?

I listened to that McKenna interview earlier, going on about the positive etc. That's the nonsense of a manager and a team that knows they are relegated.
Potentially good manager that guy, be interesting to see what the future holds for him at this level, doubt it would be with Ipswich though. They’ve probably been promoted a little too soon after their promotion from League 1 last year

Didnt see the interview but i like him. Got them well away from relegation to league 2 in his first season...2nd promoted and 3rd promoted...

...last summer cobbled together a side but has been massively let down by Greaves being injured most of the time and Phillips being dreadful.

Done very well picking out Delap and Hutchinson. They try to play good attacking football but the players were never good enough.

I think he'd be ideal for us.

Confused by this….yes we have two games in hand but we’ve got to get points from them. Without those games, McKenna, who you infer is incompetent at this level, has managed Ipswich to three points behind us with a squad made up of recent purchases and largely league 1 / championship standard players - a far inferior squad, yet you laud Dyche like he has done well this season despite having a stronger squad, yet McKenna is incompetent? Small margins.

McKenna was making the point in an interview before the last game (not today’s) that they had 6 players in the team who were in League One two seasons ago. I think that is the issue, not necessarily McKenna, who is getting a bit of a tune out of them, but still relegation possibles.
Wolves and Southampton; new manager bounce or gone.
Palace; Next 6 are Bournemouth (a) Southampton (h) Chelsea (h) Leicester (a) WHU (a) Brentford (h). Five games in there where we should get something so we’ll know much more after that.
Everton; Will continue to do enough. Then dough & new stadium. This will all seem like a bad dream.

Christ. The usual idiots criticising McKenna because he’s 18th in the Prem with a team he took over struggling in league one. The sorts that thought Howe was rubbish.

McKenna lets not forget came through at Spurs managing their youth, then the same role at United before becoming their assistant manager -- not wanting Ronaldo.

He's performed miracles at Ipswich and cobbled together a group for 2 successive promotions after saving them from relegation.

He's been caught out by Greaves being injured so often and Philips being dreadful.

Only 3pts off Everton with a far worse squad tells me that with our squad he'd have us mid table.

Could have been a contender to take over at United and rejected Chelsea i believe.

Should be our new manager with a career about to skyrocket.

Dyche potentially flatlining in comparison.

McKenna an interesting guy to keep an eye on.

They've played 2 more games than us. And they're not just being beaten in games they're being battered with no hard luck stories...same as Wolves and S'ton.
