2024/25 Relegation Thread

Youth must be complete trash if we can’t get any of them into this poor squad

He doesn’t like playing young players. Even Branthwaite had to be forced in when it became really obvious that Keane wasn’t up to it and he’d played so well abroad. Even that was much later than it should have been.
Bit of a myth this, he’s played young players if they’re good enough.

Problem is there aren’t many who are even close, ask @Eggs - very few if any are even in the conversation.

Armstrong has a chance, maybe Dixon, maybe Sherif.

Couple who look promising who are a bit younger as well.

Apparently last few years we’ve been doing part-time hours with youth players to cut costs.

Nobody wants to be down there. Having standards is not enough. You need a team (and ye possibly a better manager) to carry out those standards. But as has been mentioned probably thousands of times at this rate, Everton have a longstanding problem of opening teams up who sit back at home.
Everton have a long standing problem of picking negative managers. There is no such thing as a “club having a longstanding problem of breaking teams down”. That is recruitment.

A dislike for attacking football in the fan base certainly exists though. Probably ingrained by Moyes, as was the dislike of anything other than mediocrity.

Ingrained by Moyes? He was definitely more attacking than what Dyche is.

Moyes was only really negative against the top 4. We went for everyone else, especially at home. We’d have smashed these today under Moyes. We wouldn’t be pulling up any trees or anything but relegation would not be an issue this season with Moyes.

I agree, some people wouldn’t want him back tho as his names not Davidino Moyesinho.

if we get in this bottom 3 it’s worrying

we can’t get wins together never mind the odd win other clubs will know if they better us they have a chance

and we are already the bottom 6 getting cut adrift

who knows how bad it can get

remember 10
left at home liverpool/arsenal/city/united/villa/tottenham

add that to some tricky aways

I don’t think he would do any worse, West Ham fans wanted him gone because they wanted to play more attacking football, after he won their first trophy in how ever long, look at how that’s going.
It was more to do with him spending an utter fortune and the 4 wins in the last 19 games, move on, he is yesterdays news.

Moyes spending a fortune? Where at? The players he bought in at West Ham have done ok, everyone was raving about Kudus not so long ago.
Moyes didn’t have control of the more recent transfers at West Ham mate. Kudus would have been excellent for us but Ten Hag not knowing who the better footballer was between him and Antony, despite them both playing under him, made certain we couldn’t sign him as Ajax would only let one of them go.

West Ham spent the best part of £200m+ whilst Moyes was there, not saying the players are bad but many of them were fairly technical type, skillful players and Moyes saw fit to carry on playing percentage ball. The money wasted on Haller and Scamacca for example and he had the team firing long balls into both players chests (like Dyche does with DCL) when both are much more ground orientated players.
