2024/25 Relegation Thread

I still think with Garner, Tim, and Dwight all back we’ll have more than enough to stay up. And then seriously jettison and rebuild.

Two of them haven't played for months. We know McNeill's limitations but please get him back ahead of Harrison and Doucs. At least he gets shots away early and tries to be positive when in the final third. Also the corners been terrible since he's not been around.

Hugely encouraging start to the Moyes era. Villa are in the CL, but they certainly didn't outclass us.

Onana should have been sent off in the first half and we should have had a penalty, but thems the breaks.

We now have nine cup finals before we say goodbye to Goodison.

Saw Dom in the players' lounge and he looked desperately sad.
Yes Dom missed his latest promo delivery of loafers because he was working tonight, and has to collect from the Co-op tomorrow.

Exactly my feelings. It was a bit different. Some of the passing was quicker (which meant we misplaced them and miscontrolled them), players slightly higher up (JB maybe too high like he did in the cup but this time against far better players). We’ve never been short of effort, and same tonight. But we keep playing these good teams that aren’t in amazing form and whilst fighting really hard, create almost nothing and conspire to lose.

The longform Moyes interview in the press room is terrifying. We have not got enough quality (like really not enough), desperately need to bring some in, limited by PSR, so if they won’t improve the team then we won’t bother.

Expected Moyes to be gutted at losing, but he sounded defeatist already.
Just saw the post match interview. Ya he looked totally deflated. Maybe the reality of how bad the situation is and the state of the team hit him hard during the game. Seemed to be much more pessimistic about bringing players in compared to the press conference on Monday for the Villa game aswel

Currently 1 point worse off than last season after 20 games, 2 better than the year before and 6 fewer than the season before that. We're a club on its knees, reduced to having absolutely no standards at all.

I guess the only positive is that we're remarkably not yet in the bottom three.

Spurs arrive in poor form at the weekend and we all know they'll turn us over - THEN we'll likely be in the relegation zone and who knows how this weak-willed group of players will react to that pressure.

Players in, now.

We need a lift so do the players a few new faces would be nice .
Spurs are beatable.
But same old problem are attackers / midfield offer no goal threat.

It's sad what we've become. It's not a surprise we're down there on the brink again - be more of a surprise if we weren't.

I don't think we will fall into the relegation zone anytime soon though. Wolves have a nightmare of a fixture list coming up.

We aren’t going to be in the relegation zone this weekend.

It’d take us losing, Ipswich beating City AND Wolves beating Chelsea.

I can see ipswich going above us tomorrow.
Its a straight up fight now.
2 from 4.
Leicester
Wolves
Ipswich
Everton.
This has been the case for a number of years now. We are one of 4 or 5 teams who will go down.

I though we had a poor transfer summer. Added to the stars of last season at goodison and Liverpool going to win the league im betting it's this year. The crowd is quite at goodison and that doesn't help. Fans have aged and tired over the same thing season after season.

History shows us that clubs like us above who are a fine line year after year eventually go down. Many say there is worse belows us. There is only 3 and one of them could easily go on a run.

Think Ipswich will take a point tonight, at least.
If they win it's really fearful for our prospects.

They have goals and wins in them. We do not. Unless we directly address that with urgency then we are going to see the same things.

I do expect Moyes to generate an improvement over the second half of the season but you'd still doubt where that will leave us. Fresh impetus is needed on the pitch.
