2024/25 Relegation Thread

Not sure at the moment but there will be some games over the course of a season where we pick up points and wins unexpectedly, like the Brighton game two seasons ago and the derby last season.
Well, we should only entertain Dyche's brand of pragmatic anti-football for as long as it brings results. Right now, it's brought us one point from 15 and a cup exit. I don't think sacking him solves our problems - those reside in the empty boardroom - but I wouldn't be going out to bat for a guy with his current record either.

Ah yes, the two games in twenty months that Dyche is dining out on for every loss he racks up. 1 point from 5 pretty favourable fixtures is a dreadful return. The fact that we collapse in the second half in every game compounds that problem as even with a lead, even with a two goal lead, isn't enough for us to accrue points. Including against relatively weak opposition. It's a godsend that we aren't playing anyone of note until December as I fear we would have been beaten very heavily otherwise.

Complicate it for me, then. How are we getting to 40 points if we lose to our direct competitors at home and are, repeatedly, told by posters on here that we can't expect any points against teams like Brighton, Spurs and Villa?

Last season got 4 points off Palace, Newcastle and the full six off Forest and Brentford. That is 20 points and not far off half the tally for last season.

The next two months are huge as will be playing some of those above at Goodison. Also got Fulham and Wolves at home and due a result v both at Goodison.

Have to go out and get some wins otherwise some teams mentioned in the last page will start to pull away. Bournemouth got Southampton at home next week so don't beat Palace and they win and it will be a gap of six points + GD.

Palace, Newcastle, Fulham, Brentford, Wolves next five at Goodison. Minimum of three wins and a draw please.

Scramble an away win from somewhere and basically back on a point a game and so can withstand some losses over the xmas period.
