2nd test Everton Under-21s V Bolton Wanderers B

Equilibrium means settling for a bad situation.

Everyone knows that now.
Do you genuinely think the situation is not fixable? Is there a will to improve things? Or will it be a situation of let people figure it out and things will improve slightly and that will do. Are Liverpool council in a position to improve things from a financial point of view?

Just on my way home, I have to use a walking stick so I left just after half time.
I have plenty to say about the stadium and the transport etc.
Have to say guys, we have problems looming large once we get serious.
The concourse in the south stand is too narrow, once people stop for a chat or eat their pie etc, nothing moves.
I saw one family setting up a picnic around one of the bollards, coats on the floor, food and drink and sitting on their coats.
I jumped the 12.00 train from Ormskirk and by the rime we got to Maghull there was a crush, far too many on the train.
I know that these test events are to highlight the problems, but its Everton and Liverpool CC we are talking about here.
I was on the same train. Whereas I appreciate when thousands of people are gathering things will be busier, what I don’t get in this day and age is the sheer un organisation that results in overcrowding, people being put into pens like they are cattle and nobody seemingly bothered that this has got a Hillsborough style crush written all over it.

The train on the way was horrible. One person at Maghull taking money for tickets, the queue was out of the ticket office, the train was either 3/4 cars, not nearly enough for the people attending the game, never mind people going about their normal lives. We too left at half time because I have a Dad who struggles to walk and I said to him ‘let’s go at half time because I don’t want to wait for ages at Sandhill’s’. A few people and the same idea and I honestly thought wow this is what they have come up with. It’s awful. Exposed to every element going, no roof, it’s just awful. Every knew a new station would have been the answer years ago.

I loved the stadium but again some was awful. No bins outside, people just putting plastic cups and plates down. I had to enter in turnstile 2, but for some reason I couldn’t walk down the side of the stadium, I was told I couldn’t, so I had to walk right the way around, which meant dodging hundreds of people, squeezing through queues, and when I got to section 2 the queue to get in there was huge, it just struck me as a bit inadequate for a large scale number of people.

The stadium was great though. I got a bit emotional at the sirens and z cars, it was so loud, just a belter. I didn’t try any food or drink there but everything looked nice and tasty. The place will be incredible but you can tell they are still lacking in certain things. I was disappointed to be walking past closed streets without a car on them, thinking to myself surely they could be used by people such as my Dad who struggle walking far. A few things for Everton to sort, a load for Merseytravel to sort.

Was anyone high up in the east stand? That’s were im sitting 🙃
I was in row 39 in the East stand but I went for a walk to the back at half time - it’s quite a climb 😂

If they had any intention of improving this situation I suspect they'd have done so already...anything significant anyway.

The local state have cash to throw at making BBC tv drama series - airing tonight - about a Liverpool gangster family but not to help out a football club that spent £750M of its own money on a stadium that will do their job of regenerating the north end of the city.

That's how out of whack their priorities are: using public cash to promote a gangster drama that portrays the city as a cess pit of drug pushing scumbags but f.a. for a civic institution that's done loads to help the community.

I think the travelling to and from the stadium is being overblown a bit.

Lansdowne Rd has a train station beside it and it still takes ages to leave after a match.

Croke Park holds 80,000 and the nearest train station is a good 20-25 walk. You can't park anywhere near either stadium to any great degree. Most people have a favourite pub they go to before or after and the rest just stroll back into town etc ( another 15-20) walk.

Everyone will find an equilibrium after a couple of games.

Very sensible post this. If Goodison was our new stadium and everyone had just rocked up for the 1st or 2nd time it would be chaos too. People adjust as they get to know the pinch points and when best to turn up and naturally it will become easier because of that.

Agree with all your comments.
Crossing Regent Road was a nightmare and I can see someone getting hurt, why did they close one lane? The traffic build up as a result was chaotic and pedestrians going to the match were playing chicken with the traffic, someone will get killed if it isn't sorted.
