Yes, I should have mentioned. I’d have 4 central midfielders, no wingers. With the 4/3/3 it’s inside forwards dropping back to defend. And they can’t always get back in time. With 4/4/1/1 with 4 central midfielders, you’d only have 1 2nd striker dropping back on occasion. And you’d hope with the 4/4/1/1 that most of the midfield will be holding the shape and be behind the ball the vast majority of time, making it difficult to play through, even on the counter. The flipside is that the team wouldn’t be committing as many men into attacks.
