We went to see Merchant Of Venice at the local playhouse when we were at school for the matinee show when doing our Eng Lit O levels.

The actress playing Portia was so fit we were threatened with ejection if we didn't stop calling out or trying to distract her lol. Looking back we were just hugely embarrassing and a perfect example of school kids at their very worst.

I've called a few people Shylock over the years usually with the recipient having no idea of what i'm talking about.

Anyone know the film Forbidden Planet? It's rumored to be based on The Tempest, at least there are a lot of similarities between the two.

Get over to Shakespeare North in Prescot. Beautiful theatre. Saw Midsummer Night's Dream there last year, very good. Hopefully it will bring some money into the place as it was looking a bit grim

Going to Stratford upon Avon for couple of days is it any good
Last time I was there every second person was a foreign tourist, Shakespeare tat everywhere and the traffic was terrible, might have changed though due to Brexit - enjoy your day out.

I went to Alsop
My mate Lennie McArdle went to Alsop in the 1960s, between '64 and '69. He was a superb athlete - held the school mile record for many, many, years. He used to check every year to see if his record had been broken! He lived in Kirkdale, like myself.
