Again what benefit are we getting from this?

Teams with more supporters can just outspend us. Why should we have any more faith that fans in charge of those teams would stop them acting solely in their own interests ahead of ours?

They never showed solidarity with us until their position in our league was threatened. They've been happy to slough off bigger shares of cash from Europe and domestic TV rights.

For me people have mistaken the issue at hand - 14 clubs in this league behave themselves perfectly well with their current set up - its the other 6 + UEFA who are the issue.

We all have 50+1 - what does that do to solve UEFA constantly giving these 6 clubs a leg up be it FFP, CL Wildcard qualification etc?

Its a bandwagon those clueless Tories have jumped onto who have no real clue about what the main issue is currently.

People want change then the 14 clubs fanbases need to start interrupting matches, organised sit ins, preventing teams from entering the stadiums, organised marches etc with the message "give us an equal slice of the pie".

Fan ownership does nothing to solve that - it just means Moshiri and Usmanov no longer put their hand in their pocket and we are at the mercy at the clubs who generate massive amounts of more income than us.

I pray it doesnt happen as thats it finished for a club like us. Frustrating just as we get owners investing in the club.

Not one fan of these clubs organized any response to UEFA guaranteeing one of their clubs a europe spot they didn't earn.

Now people want us to lend our support to get rid of their owners? Why?

They weren't looking to do us any favors before and they certainly didn't react to the ESL news out of love for the pyramid but out of fear we would kick them out.

These clubs and their supporters deserve nothing from us. They've been happy to watch their owners set themselves up above us for decades and now they need us to help them after keeping us down the entire time.

#2 EMPOWER SUPPORTERS WITH IMMEDIATE 50+1 LAW

Given the threat to our clubs remains real, we need to provide immediate safeguards for supporters to be able to act to protect the best interests of their clubs. We call on the Government to legislate to require all English clubs to secure a 51% majority of their registered season ticket holders on any major decision that fundamentally affects the club’s identity or future (for instance: a change of competition or league; a change of home ground; a change of name, club colours or badge).

If you can't see the benefit in that, then that's your opinion.

I'm a bit on the fence with this at the minute. The interests of fans of one club may not be in the interest of fans of another club. Fanbases in the 4th tier could have vastly different opinions on the game than fanbases in the top flight and I think fans will always vote in the interest of their own team. That might not always be for the betterment of the wider game.

It could work well but I'm unsure at the minute. Open to the idea because the status quo isn't working but not sure it takes away all potential issues down the line.

Equal slice of the pie?

Most of those 14 clubs are already getting a bigger share of the pie than they bring.

Not one fan of these clubs organized any response to UEFA guaranteeing one of their clubs a europe spot they didn't earn.

Erm, here's one condemning it.

#5 CALL ON UEFA TO RETHINK PROPOSALS FOR CHAMPIONS LEAGUE REFORM

In the furore about the ESL, UEFA’s proposals to reform the Champions League have gone under the radar.

They are not as extreme, but still hold serious implications for the domestic English game, particularly the English Football League. They are designed to make the rich clubs richer and will make it harder for other clubs to compete nationally and at the European level. By increasing the size of the competition from 125 games to 225 games, they will inflate the value of European TV rights most likely to the detriment of domestic TV rights.

By requiring participating teams to play 10 games in the Group Stage (rather than six), the English Football League fears the Carabao Cup, which brings in a third of the EFL’s income, would be hugely damaged and the existence of lower division clubs put at risk.

And by offering a backdoor route to qualification for big clubs who fail to qualify, using an “historical coefficient” based on past five years, the proposals damage the integrity of competition in football.

For these reasons, we call on all supporters, stakeholders in English Football and the Government to rethink these plans with a particular emphasis on dropping backdoor qualification for big clubs and substantially increasing redistribution of resources to lower leagues who face the loss of crucial revenue.

Now people want us to lend our support to get rid of their owners? Why?

Their owners?

It's not "their" owners.

It's the game as a whole.

Looking past self interest "BUT WORA BAR MOSHIRI BUYING PLAYERS EH" with protecting the heritage of every football club. Preventing more Burys. Just because Everton are usually good at being "right", most aren't.

Nice of them to condemn it after the ESL blew up in their faces. They were fine with this last week.

Good luck finding a statement from before this week. This change has been in the works for months and they said nothing.

Now they want us to help them? Nah.

?

The point is about decisions at each respective club.

Every fan will vote in the interest of their own club, and that's all they could do?

Not sure how you've read into it that fans of Everton start voting on issues at Liverpool or Leyton Orient.

So what changes for us? Its just the fans pushing the club to demand more money for themselves instead of the owners.

This does absolutely nothing for us unless you feel strongly that Moshiri can't be trusted like their fans feel about their owners.

They are walking the league because they have the biggest income which allows them to buy the best players from their competitors every year

Appreciate there is a bit of chicken and egg about it

Because the other clubs needed to sell their players as they were skint from years of inept management pre 50+1. Those sales kept their clubs in business.

Fans of a club could still in theory ratify something that will benefit their club to the detriment of others. We would never get something completely awful like a super league agreed under that model and that's the obvious benefit, but how exact things would work out is a little bit unknown.

I just look at the Bunderliga and Bayern win the title year after year - it seems impossible for other clubs to attract the investment needed to compete long term.

I think after near 2 decades of Kenwright and knife to a gunfight ww finally get decent owners who have put their hand in their pocket and this proposal could see an end to that. I think it would solidify the top 6 for the foreseeable when at the moment we have Leicester and WHU in the top 4/5 spots and 5 different PL winners in the last 10 years.

Im all for an independent regulator or something of the like keeping things in order but I dont think fan ownership is the way forward in terms of solving our governing bodies pandering to the elite few clubs.

They do but it's RB Leipzig who are competing with Bayern this season.

We're still miles off the elite clubs in terms of potential spend.

I think the proposed changes would close the gap and make the league more competitive.

Also the irony is we were more competitive under Kenwright than we've been under Moshiri.

It's not fan ownership in the immediate.

That's pretty basic stuff.

Its ensuring fans have a vote on vital issues.

if that's no good, or the longer term aim of moving towards fan ownership - then what is the answer?

Can the league self regulate when we have Premier League, UEFA et al who just pander.

For me, anything that makes the whole league more competitive and safeguards against owners having playthings for clubs - can only be a good thing.

@Alan Whittle @FOXINPEACE

What are your clubs saying about this?

Do you see a benefit in backing this for your clubs?

How do you feel about these teams supporting the new coefficient rule guaranteeing one of them entry into Europe without earning it?
Fan owned clubs? Recipe for disaster. Read any football forum for confirmation.
Regulator with teeth to ensure level playing field? Yes please
