Like pushing for their clubs to take adversarial positions in Premier league meetings until they get what they want for their club just like their owners do now.

How can issues around a clubs identity/future allow that?

It just shops nonsense like the super league, Everton's crest, and this;

#2 EMPOWER SUPPORTERS WITH IMMEDIATE 50+1 LAW

Given the threat to our clubs remains real, we need to provide immediate safeguards for supporters to be able to act to protect the best interests of their clubs. We call on the Government to legislate to require all English clubs to secure a 51% majority of their registered season ticket holders on any major decision that fundamentally affects the club’s identity or future (for instance: a change of competition or league; a change of home ground; a change of name, club colours or badge).

Fan owned clubs? Recipe for disaster. Read any football forum for confirmation.
Regulator with teeth to ensure level playing field? Yes please

Oh?

This then.

#4 LEGISLATE FOR SINGLE, INDEPENDENT FINANCIAL REGULATOR FOR ALL PROFESSIONAL LEAGUES AND CLUBS

While all of the steps outlined above will help, the only way to secure the overall health of English football is through statutory regulation, as the Our Beautiful Game group, led by former FA Chair David Bernstein, has argued.
The sad demise of Bury Football Club stands as a testament to the complete inadequacy of the current arrangements. The Group’s Manifesto has set out a clear proposal for the new regulator and we believe it should be adopted by both the Fan-Led Review and should be the basis for urgent legislation.

Amongst other things, the regulator should be responsible for: approval of proposed take-overs of clubs considering proposed financing methods; application of a strengthened “fit and proper person” test for owners and directors; oversight of a club licensing scheme to ensure high standards of governance; and management of a system of redistribution of the game’s revenues to ensure the health of football at every level of the pyramid.

Is something I would support.

Don't really know, just thinking out loud. That's my whole point here, I'm happy to be convinced.

If it ensures clubs will be preserved at all levels and we can avoid losing teams, then it should be considered. I'm just not sure how the practicalities of it would work. Making football more sustainable is going to be a pretty long process so got to start somewhere.

They would have a 51% interest. Do you think that won't apply to decision making for the club position in Premier league meetings?

I've no issue against 50+1. None at all

My issue is with these clubs and the media turning this into an all of football issue and that we, as, Everton supporters should care about their owners.

Those supporters, for the majority, would be happy to see us suffer.

I don't remember the reds getting behind campaigns to get Kenwright out when blues wanted his head over the Kirkby move and years of no investment.

Where was this clamor for 50+1 while we were languishing at the hands of on owner we couldn't oust?

I don't think it's as complex as people think. It's also not about fans owning 51% of shares.

It's as simple as if a club wants to make any significant change - like change their badge, their football stadium, their shirt colours - or move to another league then they have to ask their own season ticket holders and the majority has to support it.

They do but it's RB Leipzig who are competing with Bayern this season.

We're still miles off the elite clubs in terms of potential spend.

I think the proposed changes would close the gap and make the league more competitive.

Also the irony is we were more competitive under Kenwright than we've been under Moshiri.

It's not fan ownership in the immediate.

That's pretty basic stuff.

Its ensuring fans have a vote on vital issues.

if that's no good, or the longer term aim of moving towards fan ownership - then what is the answer?

Can the league self regulate when we have Premier League, UEFA et al who just pander.

For me, anything that makes the whole league more competitive and safeguards against owners having playthings for clubs - can only be a good thing.

Personally I would like the idea of an Ombudsmen/OFSTED type independent regulator from the football league/ UEFA who has to authorise/sign off any proposed changes to the football system in the country. I think something like that would protect clubs whilst ensuring that we as a league continue to welcome investment for clubs to hopefully try and compete.

This will die on its arse. It is just filling air time so the broadcasters can damp down the clamor to punish these teams.

"Can't punish these clubs, it is all their horrible owners fault. Let's do the right thing for football and get rid of their owners and pretend nothing happened."

That's what I don't agree with.

This part won't last long when the fans of those six clubs understand it means less money in their pockets.

They will sign this wanting their owners out but they will not all be behind that when they realize it stops them signing Messi on a free.

Think thats the 4th point.

They'd take the fan vote into equation.

This makes more sense. It's as much about ensuring fans are consulted and approve of things in advance, rather than fans actually controlling the operations of a club. I don't think fans running clubs is a good idea, but consultation and cooperation are good.

I think having some form of regulator is the most important part of this though. People don't just want a say in things, they want a more level playing field too.

That regulator will be the first thing the fans of those clubs hold out votes on to remove like their owners have done to get their way with the league before.
