I'm pretty sure that most industries that are regulated have private businesses. Banks/financial institutions, law firms, media, telecoms...
WTF does being a private business have to do with avoiding regulation?

They can refuseCan they refuse? I thought a Commons committee was effectively a court of law and if they asked, you have to deliver.
Could get interesting
Hence the corruption claims. It is a one man show from Masters and he will not back down. The committee can sip there tea and eat there biscuits while we are putting all the mitigating circumstances to them (Justifiable) but the decision is already made. The appeal could be just a show from the PL that 'we are listening' for media consumption but I say again...decision is already made with Masters the all powerful instigator of a kangaroo court. Don't even think the government will have any sway in this.So basically the Premier league decided two months before the independent commission,
what punishment we would be getting according to that letter, before we had even made are case.
Very fair and independent that sounds masters you soft arse
Did we though? The rule at issue really seems to be the punishment, which no one signed up for. To me, that seems the most problematic part of the leagues defense of the punishment. How can you have a secret unique punishment no one agreed to? What other rules in life have hidden secret punishments? They are all spelled out, and intended to be delivered equally. On what grounds would we go to the court mate.
One thing that would be problematic in my opinion is that we signed up for the rule.
I don’t read that into it. Just that we won’t get a reduction for one of the reasons for the appeal. Still think mitigations will see it reduced a fair bitThe tone of that letter certainly indicates to me that we will be getting bugger all from the appeal.
Really hope you're rightI don’t read that into it. Just that we won’t get a reduction for one of the reasons for the appeal. Still think mitigations will see it reduced a fair bit
Again my concern. We will be the team to bring down the PL but will be blasted to oblivion in the process. They can refuse
But the committee are legislators and can set about introducing new regulations
Look, I think Moshiri is criminally useless. He’s caused all of this.Really hope you're right
It all depends on how independent this committee really is. This is where my doubts begin. I pray you are right but I feel this is Masters ledI don’t read that into it. Just that we won’t get a reduction for one of the reasons for the appeal. Still think mitigations will see it reduced a fair bit
What’s tricky dickie hiding
I don't think we would argue specifically about the rule, more about the procedural issues highlighted by Burnham, the DCMS and other articles such as the detailed one shared recently. On what grounds would we go to the court mate.
One thing that would be problematic in my opinion is that we signed up for the rule.
I’m not worried about its independence. It’s as independent as it can be really. I don’t buy the idea that we are scapegoats because of who we are (all clubs fans think that right?). I just think we’re scapegoats because we’re the first to really cross the PSR rubicon, so we’ve had the book thrown at us (and also that useless piece of @@@@@ Moshiri of course). That’s what’s wrong, that’s what needs addressing. It all depends on how independent this committee really is. This is where my doubts begin. I pray you are right but I feel this is Masters led
Really, really and really?Let’s have it right, we have overspent by 19.5m, sure we can blame the board and signing players etc but let’s just remember they have tried to make Everton decent over the years by signing players. Yes, most of them have been awful but nobody can turn the clock back. I’m sure if we could go back in time we wouldn’t of offered 28m for Bolasie and offered Southampton 30m for Mane, it’s how the cookie crumbles, but let’s not forget Moshiri put his money where his mouth was and unfortunately for him, he failed.
Yes we made poor signings and we still continue to do so, Delle being one of them, but again, nobody knew he would come and be crocked, same as Gbamin. I blame the directors of football more. Steve Walsh, Brands, Thelwell, their role was to highlight players and try and get them. They have all failed but one would argue the jury is still out on Thelwell.
I get the Kenwright criticism, Baxendale after headlock gate but Moshiri. He’s just been guilt of not being a football guy, trying to buy players he knows nothing about and basically just being a fish out of water. He also signed us 50m quid players, Carlo, and has built us a brand new stadium. I think he deserves all of our respect more than anything
The panel for the appeal are probably sorry they got involved, if I were one of them I’d probably walk away now.Again my concern. We will be the team to bring down the PL but will be blasted to oblivion in the process.
An actual real court would laugh out our point deduction. A shambles of a process.
