EFL Statement: Leicester City

The EFL notes the decision of the independent Appeal Board in respect of Leicester City’s appeal regarding the Premier League’s jurisdiction over the Club’s alleged breach of its Profitability and Sustainability Rules.

We are currently reviewing the decision in full and will reserve any further substantive comment until any possible appeal process initiated by the Premier League has concluded, and or any action is taken by the EFL.

We share the frustrations of the Premier League. It cannot be right that Clubs potentially escape the scrutiny of the agreed rules and sanctions due to movement across the divisions.

Cost control rules have been agreed by the member clubs of the Premier League and EFL, and it is incumbent on the Leagues to apply the rules as intended to uphold the integrity of competitions, with Clubs required to act in utmost good faith towards one another for the benefit of all Clubs and their supporters.
Why did we not exploit the "Leicester loophole"?

Tbf, from my admittedly basic understanding of the situation, we couldn't have exploited this loophole as we didn't go down. It does however add more weight to Forest's case imo, a big part of their defense was not selling Johnson before June 30th to get better value for him.

Everton should be kicking off though about how they received the most Draconian punishment for rules which Leicester have, beyond all doubt, proven to be unfit for purpose.
If Forest didn't see that loophole at the time and didn't use that as a defence during the independent commission is it not just tough luck now at this stage. It would have been up to Forest to bring it to the independent commission at the time

Sooner the government actually steps in the better.
You would have to think they will. Since Everton got docked points the whole system has blown up in their faces in less than a year. Ironically for the PL using it as a way to show the government that they are above board and competent. All this has shown them to be anything but that.

It seems as though the PL ruling on approving Aston Villa to sell Villa Park to their owners to allow themselves to be PSR complaint a few seasons ago cornered themselves into having to agree to Chelsea selling their hotels to themselves

well we should be going mad about the deductions we had last season because of the amount of money we lost on that basis

Is why i am confused that they seem to be going out to get us so hard for the stadium loan for the second time. And stuff like this and chelsea pass the test
