6 + 2 Point Deductions

Getting the deduction reduced is one thing, whatever comes in its place is another. A lesser points deduction coupled with a transfer ban lasting into and beyond next summer isn't what we need either. It does feel like the end game is to relegate us, one way or another, one season or another. We can't go on with continuous uncertainty like that.

I do worry about this.

If we get a 6 point deduction and a 2 window transfer ban, it will kill us. That is worse than the 10 points. We desperately need reinforcements.

Calm down everyone.

We were playing man United.

Next week against forest it will be a different story. We would have struggled to beat united with or without the deduction.

We are doing very well this season away especially at the lesser lights of the league - hence -10 not even putting us bottom.

Luton, Burnley and Sheff United are terrible.

Give us a few weeks and we will be out of the more YET AGAIN.

WE HAVE DONE IT ONCE, WE CAN DO IT AGAIN.

We are also terrible. Comfortably one of the worst sides in ball retention . Our main tactic seems to be to give it to a defender to launch up the field. There is a clear lack of cohesion in the team and a real lack of consistent cutting edge particularly in the middle, someone to split defences with a clever pass. Garner has shown this but no where near consistently enough.

We lost to Luton at home and needed a good save from Pickford to keep a point at Sheff United. For the brief flashes of decent play we end up resorting to ale house football, hit and Hope crap time and again and it’s crap and a chore to watch.

It is what it is and I can’t wait for this period in the clubs history to be over and we actually have something apart from a new home to be genuinely excited about .

I thought we played quite well today. We played some good stuff first half and with some composure could have been leading at half time.

Our midfield is weak with no one who can pick a pass I agree apart from Garner who is a bit hot and cold, we need to get someone who can carry the ball forward, and if possible hit the target with a shot.

Fair enough mate. I thought apart from a 10-15 minute first half spell we were poor, particularly second half. Gana had a decent shot with a decent save from the keeper.

Whilst I’m not saying the boo boys rear their heads, to see them applauded at full time, I was a bit bemused by that. The mentality is all wrong here for me. It was a underlying issue in the Moyes era and has grown worse over the time. I’m not expecting us to roll over Utd by any means but I thought were mediocre in a lot of aspects today. No cohesion.

the derby weeks ago, poor gutless officials overshadowed a real inept display at ball retention/possession. It’s awful to watch at times.

Fair point mate, and I agree we aren’t the Holland 1970’s team by a long shot, but it was better than was served up under Lampard.

Shows how our inept board have conditioned our fans into accepting mediocrity.

We will end up getting clubs appealing our appeal, in the end we will have about 6 clubs after us.
Then we'll appeal the appeal of the appeal... the PL opened this can of worms by insisting on a mental punishment.. 5 points suspended would have been harsh but accepted and the whole thing would have been just about forgotten about by now. So the least we can do is give the PL a few migraines while they try and weasel their way out of this.
Also nobody is getting anything out of us anyway if things don't go our way at the next hearing we'll go into administration and other clubs will find themselves at the bottom of the list for getting payed.

As a leeds fan, I think I have 4 takes on this.

1 - The 10 pts mean very little this year. There are 3 terrible teams in the league, you'll stay up with 30 points probably. Can't see the penalty resulting in relegation.

2 - You broke FFP. You did so knowingly and then tried to cover it up with dodgy accounting. The penalty is fair enough - You got caught and lied about it. Suck it up.

3 - Your big problem isnt the 10 pts, its Burnley and Leicester. Leeds, Southampton etc.....have very small claims, which amount to a couple of million for being 'cheated' out of a place in the league, but neither resulted in a substantial impact. Burnley and Leicester however..........You could easily be looking at a couple of hundred million compensation and all the fun and games that come with that.

4 - This is for the 21-22 season. Your still not compliant with FFP today, so need to fix that pronto or you'll be proper hammered. As a result, there is an urgent need to sell players and reduce the wage bill - and forget about strengthening. I think this (and the 3rd point) are your main issues. The 10 pts won't mean a whole lot and is short term - a big compensation bill and a wage bill that is hugely out of kilter with your revenue are longer term problems that could bury you for a good long time.

We ain't getting 10 points anyway. All a game. But I do want to address the myth that we are going to sign anyone who is better than what we have. We signed Ashley Young for a reason. If we sign anyone in January, it will be a miracle and even more of a miracle if we pay money for them and they turn out to be any better than what we have. We should be scouting for young talent now and finding players who are hungry to play in the Prem and to establish themselves. Our days of paying large fees are gone... at least for now.
