6 + 2 Point Deductions

They can’t make us a favourite as if the points get taken off, they will lose a fortune
That's just not true, we were about 5/1 to get relegated before the deduction, now we're 2/1. Those odds have changed to reflect what they believe the true chances are. If this was a previous season, with better teams at the bottom we would be about 4/5.

First it did not use the term "cannot be quantified" as far as I can see.

Second; It was not the purpose of this commission to quantify this though? The purpose of this commission was to evaluate Everton's breach of PSR rules. The judgement clearly says those clubs are now free to pursue claims against Everton because sporting advantage (where presumably the impact will need to be quantified to establish what compensation, if any, is due).
You need to look again

The whole thing is completely demoralising. I can't say I want us to be in the Premier League anymore tbh. If the consequences of not being didn't amount to potential administration then I'd bin the whole thing off. The Super League is destined to happen imo, but it won't be as the elite envisage it. Fans outside the Top Six are deliberately being given a third-rate product devoid of any hope, to maintain the status quo.

Let them have their Super League. What does a top-4 finish in that qualify you for exactly? A trip to Brazil?

The right to do it alllllll again for the next 7 years, in outer space.

I'm coming around to that way of thinking too. Be a great pity seeing as we have been there since the start but table is almost a forgone conclusion before a ball is kicked in anger
As Samuels pointed out yesterday, PL is now a league for lawyers & accountants and State owned clubs.

Too much money, too little enjoyment

I can kind of see your point here, but the whole chain of precedent that they reference, from the Birmingham decision to the Sheffield Wednesday decision, highlights the unquantifiable nature of any sporting advantage, so much so that it is dealt with incredibly briefly in the commission's decision here. The perceived hit to sporting integrity from the advantage is built into the punishment.

That precedent will still be in play when they come around to the compensation claims. It would be easier for them if it was quantifiable, but everything, both precedent and just obvious logic, says that it isn't. It would be a fool's errand for them to attempt to do so; any compensation Everton have to pay would be an absolute joke.

As a leeds fan, I think I have 4 takes on this.

1 - The 10 pts mean very little this year. There are 3 terrible teams in the league, you'll stay up with 30 points probably. Can't see the penalty resulting in relegation.

2 - You broke FFP. You did so knowingly and then tried to cover it up with dodgy accounting. The penalty is fair enough - You got caught and lied about it. Suck it up.

3 - Your big problem isnt the 10 pts, its Burnley and Leicester. Leeds, Southampton etc.....have very small claims, which amount to a couple of million for being 'cheated' out of a place in the league, but neither resulted in a substantial impact. Burnley and Leicester however..........You could easily be looking at a couple of hundred million compensation and all the fun and games that come with that.

4 - This is for the 21-22 season. Your still not compliant with FFP today, so need to fix that pronto or you'll be proper hammered. As a result, there is an urgent need to sell players and reduce the wage bill - and forget about strengthening. I think this (and the 3rd point) are your main issues. The 10 pts won't mean a whole lot and is short term - a big compensation bill and a wage bill that is hugely out of kilter with your revenue are longer term problems that could bury you for a good long time.
You were s*ite thats why you went down. So maybe you should suck that up you absolute quilt

Indeed. We are in the position we find ourselves in because the super league did not materialize. Said myself few times we will regret the day we stopped them.

Football has been large part of life for decades now, never been so dispondent in league football and Everton FC. This is far worse than Walker Peter Johnson or being hoofed out of European football.

Actually looking forward to the cup game just before Christmas. We all get to see sporting contest that is fairly and equally officiated.

One thing for sure is we need a Scotty to fix up this sinking ship.
