6 + 2 Point Deductions

If we’ve breached there will be no leniency on us. We aren’t Man City. If anything I think we’d be punished more severely than Everton. If we get hit for 10+ points we’re down.

If the reports are true it will be an interesting case. Is it more financially sustainable to sell a player for £30m on 30th June, or for £47m on the 28th August?
This is a fundamental now. Having made such an (unfair) example of us, the PL 'HAVE' to continue in that vein. They've boxed themselves into a corner they can't get out of and remain credible or viable.

dont get confused with what would be better for your club mate, this is a mechanism to keep us all in our place, at the bottom feeding off scraps.

Honestly, without sounding rude, I think your last sentence is one of the most ridiculous statements I’ve read for a while.

You think the PL are desperate for us to stay up? You think this organisation whom don’t give us any decisions in nearly every game, backed up with facts by the way as we are the only team this season not to of been awarded a penalty. You think the PL want us to stay up when we have had goals ruled out by var this season which has cost us points, Fulham, Spurs. You think they want us to stay up when we boo their theme every week and have held up banners calling them corrupt. They have wanted us out of the league since Russia decided to invade Ukraine, from that moment someone at the PL HQ went ‘Everton are owned by one of these guys’, and the writing has been on the wall since. It wouldn’t surprise me one bit if we get another deduction as put simply they do not want their brand being tarnished by clubs like Everton breaking the rules. Whether it’s this season, next season or in many years time they will get us down to the Championship and they will probably throw a big party.
If they want us down then honestly all they need to do is apply a deduction to next season, maybe by suspending the existing one. With what is likely to be a depleted squad then we'd have no chance

The accountant in me says you can’t choose whatever period you want to book a transaction.

All of me, including the accountant, says the PL can do one.

It’s laughable really - the likes of forest and ourselves have probably spent £400m odd less than the scab 6 over this three year period in question yet get hammered with a points deduction for “financially doping”.

FWIW I hope you don’t get a points deduction - relegation etc… should be decided on the pitch not via some corrupt suits deciding you’re expendable to the brand.

Yeah all seems very odd doesn’t it. The villa thing kinda gets me. It’s a similar sized club, similar history, similar sized stadium etc etc but I look at their team and just think it’s all going to come crumbling down. They will not finish in the top 4, there’s too many teams below them who will come good after this much needed rest/break.

As far as I can see they have spent almost 400m in three seasons, god knows what their weekly wage bill is with players like Digne, Wakins, Tielemens etc.

But why haven’t they been punished for anything? Just strikes me as strange.

I think this summer they realised they were sailing close to FFP so basically sold a couple of promising young players like Chelsea do every summer, Archer went to Sheffield United for 20m and Ramsey Jr was picked up by Burnley for 14. Also sold a player to Hull for 5m.

The Grealish sale from two summers ago also gave them manoeuvre for a couple of years given his home ground status.

Same should apply to Gordon going for 40m but clearly not or the premier league just decided to ignore it.

Sky and the prem certainly like marketing the Merseyside derby around the world so they'd miss that for sure even for just a season. Although they long ago gave up on calling it the "friendly" derby given the aggro that's developed since the 90s for many reasons.

Can remember always watching the build up in those times and they'd genuinely spend 2 minutes before the teams came out at Goodison or the Swamp showing parts of the ground where fans/families of both clubs were sitting next to each other without any bother.

Different times to put it mildly! Watch Super Kev's winner and there's a couple of fans jumping up and down in first row of the Kop! Same when they would score at the Gwladys in those days.

Would be interesting to see how much more it brings in than a standard game against say Wolves. I reckon them Vs Spurs draws more people in than us thesedays.

Over the last 15/20 years they've been marketing them vs United as the Derby. Despite that game never really being a title decider. Perhaps the only time I can remember is when they came second with FSW as manager years ago.

Why did you quote me on this? It literally says nothing I was referring to.

I lost any sympathy for Forest when they started singing " you cheating b*****"s, you know what you are" at us, knowing full well how many players they'd signed.

I hope other teams get done none of them care about us only way things will change if more get done for it. Definately think they will be close even with the johnson transfer, have had a big squad with alot of wages.

If Forest win their argument that Johnson was sold later to accumulate more money, surely that then proves one of our mitigations of Richarlison/Spurs and would have to be then taken into genuine consideration for our appeal. Right?
The forest argument has absolutely no chance to succeed. What happens if after June 30th there are suddenly no takers for your star player. The premier league was very pragmatic, probably too pragmatic in our case. No reason to think they will change their approach. Rules are rules. The question is by how much they were over on June 30th. Ultimately they have decided to adopt a dictatorial approach for reasons that at this stage are not clear to me. Protecting the top 6 doesn't look to be the case when you are going after Chelsea and City. Probably the fear of external regulation and governance...
