The statutory loss was higher in 2019/20, but the vast majority of the £80m we claimed for Covid, which we know wasn't considered for PSR, was from 2019/20, meaning the underlying loss was £34m less in 2019/20 than in 2020/21.
Obviously I don't know what the expenditure on other things that weren't relevant for PSR was in each year, but it is very likely that the use of the average still benefits Everton.
Going to be intresting day tomorrow
I think we will be alright we have got a lot of the big wages out of the way,
The problem is that if other clubs fall foul, rumours of forest, wolves ect , Chelsea are certs, you are going into a situation were the league will finish.
The clubs will go before the Premier league panel in May
And nobody will know who is what position in the league they are, or does it go to next season unlike us?
if say two clubs get pionts deducted and go down do they get relegated for that season ?
Before they can appeal.
they have hit us with an immediate penalty so have set a president.
Basically because of there actions with us the Premier league is in a position were they will effectively decide who is in the prem next year in a room instead of on the pitch.
Super Sunday would be interesting teams all playing winning and losing not knowing if it matters or not.
What a mess.
FIFA have nothing to do with FFP.They have already admitted there quilty to Fifa and paid a fine of twenty million to them.
Cannot see how they can admit guilt to one body then claim innocent to another.
If they do the game is truly corrupt.
I actually have a lot of time for Martin Samuel but this isn’t one of his better articles.
The PL have little to no option but to abandon the current P&S model and adopt the new UEFA model which yes factors on wages to a % of income but wages are added to amortisation and agent costs when arriving at the squad costs which is the number that will be measured.
Samuels talks about nett transfer spend but as has been pointed out on here that number other than something that winds people up . Amortisation is a killer when it comes to getting a handle on the player trading numbers but and a big but lend a player out on loan and it impacts both the P&S and FFP amortisation number significantly.
Chelsea buying lots of mediocre players on 7 year contracts will end very badly.
When that 3 year average hits, along with no Champions League it'll be brilliant.Chelsea buying lots of mediocre players on 7 year contracts will end very badly.
Where's that Geordie bloke's sister when you need her?I find it very odd that the money we claimed back for Covid came from 2019/20, we only lost about 2 months worth of gates from that season due to covid whereas the entire 2020/21 season was played behind closed doors. This just makes no sense in my head.

Correct, the new Chelsea ownership came clean to the PL and UEFA when they discovered "holes" in their accounts. Paying Chelsea costs with external companies, let`s not beat about the bush, this is as serious FFP/PSR breach as you can get and it was done to specifically and very much intentionally to get around PSR.FIFA have nothing to do with FFP.
The settlement of £8.75 million agreed with UEFA was in respect of sums not being reported correctly.
