It closes half of the gap. It's a mitigating factor.
From the start we had gone over 105m. The investigation was about whether there were reasonable circumstances to explain some of it away.

It none of the 'excuses' would matter, they why even have this independent commission in the first place?

If breaching the rules means punishment, then every breach should be punished at every club. It won't happen but many clubs, especially City and Chelsea should be punished harshly.

They will change/scrap profitability rules long before city's case is due to be heard.

Let's not get it wrong by saying just because it's the bottom of the league it's different. United, Chelsea, RS etc would've had extra titles on the board.

And it's not really the nub of the issue as the commission admitted we gained zero advantage on the field for being over £19.5mill over the loss threshold.

We finished 5th and would’ve got CL in one of them title winning City seasons

The report makes it sound like the PL said "you're sailing very close to the wind - just come to us to make sure you're still ok before you go signing more players, ok?"...but we signed players anyway.
 
Sky Sports leaning pretty heavily on the whole 'will other clubs sue?' aspect of the story, because of course they'd love nothing more than to twist the knife a bit..

Yep no doubt.

This is why Man City will never get punished, the list is so long their argument is they should be given time to investigate and prepare their evidence for all this historical stuff and that will take years and years.

Everton through just shear incompetence will be the only team punished.

When the 777 deal collapses and we go into administration the 9 point deduction for that will relegate us.

We will somehow scrape a deal to survive but it all depends on us getting promoted to the Premier League next season.

But, we have to compete with City and Chelsea as they have been relegated to the Championship with us.
