63 years supporting Everton

I must admit.. sometimes I see stuff like that on Sunday night and genuinely wonder 'why bother?'

Ancelotti always says he wants 'consistency' from Everton.. well he's got one hell of a job on his hands.

I feel your pain @T LEAFE.

35 here and all I can remember in my lifetime was standing on a wall with my dad and brother when we had the parade in 95. It's disgusting to think the closest we got to that since has been one meagre final, while the likes of Wigan, Portsmouth, Swansea, Birmingham and Middlesborough have won either the League or FA Cup in that time - and Manchester City won the lottery of all lotteries and got a free stadium, owners that make billions before breakfast each day and have gone from an utter nothing club to winning 11 domestic trophies in a single decade, ffs.

If this new stadium isn't approved within the next month we should liquidate the club, as we'll have no hope left.

We are a losing club. Utter losers.

I wish I could just teach myself to accept it

It has taken half a century but at long last I seem to have matured enough to come to terms with it.

With the result I am enjoying football more than I have done in the past.

Why?

Well, I am still experiencing the highs.....totally buzzing for days after the OT comeback and Spurs cup tie.

But.

Whereas years ago results like Fulham and Barcodes would leave me literally depressed for days afterwards, these days I vent a bit for an hour or two and normal life is resumed.

Even five years ago, waking up the day after a performance like yesterday would have me feeling hollow inside, a black hole where my joie de vivre normally is.

Not now though

This club has worn me down and only the good things affect my mood :)

And tonight’s performance has annoyed me more than anything(ok there have been many as bad)

From the 1st minute the writing was on the wall

Why are we so slow?
Why do we pass sideways/ backwards so much?
Why aren’t we comfortable with the ball?
Why do we make Fulham look like Brazil?
Why don’t we seem to care when I seem to more as a fan?

Im close to giving up

Hmm.

I'm from the generation that started supporting Everton when we were at our worst, which was in the 1990s. Nothing was as miserable and dull as watching Everton back then. Getting hammered by Blackburn Rovers at Goodison Park in 1994 with no hope.

Comparing that to watching a fatigued team get outrun by Fulham?

Could be a LOT worse.

Losing to Norwich at home last season 2 0 and them conceding 5 at the pit a week or so later was worse then the weekend. We were in the bottom 3 then.

The biggest concern is that despite the relative upturn and positivity engendered under Carlo, we still cannot depend on a certain baseline level of performance and consistency. Making allowances for the fact the majority of players aren't his.

When we are bad, we are absolutely appalling.

I find that hard to stomach seeing as we have to grind out the majority of our wins.

We remain a side that's embarrassingly easy at times easy to harass.

Then its either complete panic or the sort of meek abdication we saw on Sunday evening.

I don't understand all the self pity on here .What if you supported one of the other founder members like Accrington Stanley ? Then you could moan with cause but there is no need for the bile spouted on here just because we have bad games .There are millions of things worse than Everton losing and it is time that some come to terms with that fact .
I have just caught up with Joanna Lumley's documentary in India .Some on here should watch that and see how lucky they are .

I’m with Khalekan on this. I’ve served 55 years and once upon a time performances like the other night would drive me to distraction. They still do but not for very long. I can compartmentalise my disappointment, pack it away and get on with life. It is a bit like the Hotel Calafornia... you can check out but you can never leave.

Bizarre post. Literally no one here has said that Everton losing is the worst thing that’s happened

I managed to catch a bit of that and I wouldn’t call the people in India lucky, I thought the opposite if I’m honest.

63 years - should be used to it by now

Here goes .
I'm 57 ,58 this year.
I cant remember before 1970 ,so I've only had 3 great seasons.
Success can only be measured by trophies.
It's easy to support a winning team..
