Is the boy Textor on Twitter??

Edit, just read the story.

I hate him already.

"Textor opens the door to The Athletic with an Apple MacBook in his other hand, casually dressed in trousers, a hoodie and blue Adidas Samba trainers".

What's not to like, already lined up a kit deal with Adidas and a 200 million a year deal with Apple as the shirt sponsor. That's how to win over the fan base.

Unfortunately for Textor, if he was ever under the belief that our fans will ever accept permanent mid table league finishes and little expenditure on players for the next decade - as is the level of ambition at a football side like Crystal Palace, he would not understand the size of EFC or what its fans crave.

This fanbase has dined on steak during the Moshiri years in terms of investment in the playing squad, even if things didnt end up working out. Winning the 7th place trophy was never enough under Moyes and it was always a battle between the fans as to wanting new ownership to allow the manager to try break the glass ceiling.

Calm heads have understood the lack of investment in the playing squad these past 2-3 seasons due to the P&S issues faced however in 12 months from now we will be moving into Bramley Moore Dock and will likely no longer be restricted by P&S. Those two factors bring with it renewed desire/ambition within the fans to push on from mid table / relegation scraps.

Truth be told, if Dyche delivers 1-2 seasons of 12th place finishes without points deductions, they'll be calls for him to step aside under the belief many have of him having a "glass ceiling" of his own.

Unlike "Blue Bill" this gentleman will not be able to so easily hide behind the "worlds biggest blue" who "mortgaged his house" to escape criticism from the wider fanbase for the lack of ambition in the transfer market.

Whilst we need clever people, the reality is 9-10 other clubs in the league also have clever people at the helm but also very wealthy clever people enabling them an edge in the transfer market / squad building. Looking at our current squad, without sufficient investment we shall not be able to look ahead and attempt to crack those european places in the coming years ahead.
Not sure on his level of input but Palaces recent transfer record puts ours to shame.

He’s literally leaving Palace because he can’t fulfil his ambitions there. Like Moshiri he has big ambitions, we just hope if successful he has more of an ability to deliver him.

Just thinking even bona fide absolutely minted folks like Jim Ratcliffe took a long while to pass the various tests.

I hope we don't have to go through all that again. The summer would be chaotic.
I doubt anything is resolved for this Summer Transfer Window, unless things happen FAST.

Hes still gotta offload his Palace shares, that would seem the biggest issue currently.

But a plan going forward is better than the current mess.

Not like you can just go crazy anyway
In terms of money it’s not just him invested in Eagle, there’s money behind him and alongside him on their board:

“ Eagle Football has backers including private equity firm Ares and acquisition company Iconic Sports.”

Yes indeed! The days of privately funding football clubs are all well and gone. If it was, Newcastle would just be blowing everyone out of the water right now. We need a very business savvy person to come in and ensure that we can fund ourselves as a club. Let's hope that the big Texan is the man to do that.
