The way the remaining fixtures stack up for ourselves and the teams around us, 7th is achievable. Finishing above Arsenal and Tottenham and getting SOME form of European fixtures next year, is preferable to finishing below them and not being involved in Europe at all. This isn't a strong vote for the specific Conference for which we'd qualify by coming 7th, more of an assessment of overall benefit.
a) Some of the youngsters in France and Holland that we are hopefully scouting and preparing bids for will be more interested in us if we finish above Arsenal and Tottenham than if we finish below them.
b) more prize money for 7th than there is for 8th or 9th.
c) Some of these European games will be against minnows, and the league format will make some of them dead rubbers as well, allowing us to give game time to a couple of fringe players here and there.
d) Two of my brothers-in-law are Gooners, as are many of my wife's family. Another brother-in-law is a Spurs fan who believes that Gomes made a meal of the Son challenge. I would be gratified to finish above both of those spivvy cockney clubs.
