The right wing conspiratorial 'populist' idiots running to his defence are absolute hypocrites. In their mind, someone who 'tells the truth' couldn't possibly be a sex pest, they're forgetting Brand was as far left as they come a few months ago. They've been played like a fiiddle and Brand knew exactly what he was doing by playing the Tate 'they're after me' narrative, he knew all this was coming out!

It is an obvious playbook that has worked and is working, especially in the states.

Trump set the blueprint and showed how easy it was to brainwash a legion of idiots with populist rhetoric appealing to the most angry sectors of society and then weaponizing them to defend his actions. He's been done in civil court for sexual assault and recorded talking about his assaults and instead of finding it morally reprehensible they support him because he's on their team.

There's another US politician Matt Gaetz who has basically been nailed for sex trafficking and it's just completely disregarded. Then you've got Andrew Tate and his crimes being defended by legions of lonely losers and you can see how easy it is to tap into.

It's so very transparent. This was all figured out by the likes of Steve Bannon during the Breitbart and early alt-right movement days. There is a large group of angry young men that you can appeal to with sympathy for the imaginary wrongs modern society has done to them and then use that to brainwash them into reasoning with anything else you suggest they believe.

The "not arsed what celebs do" approach? I have real people i know who are more important to me than these over-privilegef over-paid clowns. Let the law (not social media) run its course.
I agree with the sentiment, but in practice that is hugely difficult.

I understand why folk have turned to social media as a way of exposing the likes of Weinstein. But I can also see its not ideal. First, they shouldn't need to. Second, it can end up taking on a life of its own and end up punishing an innocent person. Third, it also can be used by bells like Trump, Tate and now possibly Brand to position themselves as being witchunt victims.

None of it is particularly satisfactory.
