A list UK celeb in trouble

May I consider le tissier's timing of his tweet rather crass?

The QAnon flavouring can be ignored, but pointing out the partially of the media and its hypocrisy does need to be said, especially at times like this.

We really cannot have an alternative system of quasi-justice where those rich or powerful enough get to avoid criminal sanctions for their misdeeds. That’s why NDAs need to be unenforceable when they relate to criminal allegations, why the justice system has to be beefed up to take these people on when they do something wrong and why the media cannot be allowed to determine whose behaviour does and does not get revealed, and who should get punished or not.

To be fair, wasn’t this investigated between 2007 til 2013 or something along those time lines. Me personally, I don’t think documentaries like last night should be allowed to air til after a trail. I believe the allegations against him are true but it also creates a lot of damage to the victims which is unfair. You’ll have people who will support Brands who will go to great depths of supporting him and will make life hell for the victims, because although they was portrayed by actors, these victims will be found and will get a lot more of unjustified abuse.

When cases come out like this, it’s always reported that the higher ups knew or suspected these allegations against said suspect. It makes Brands and his supporters points valid, when they shouldn’t.

It’s like the R. Kelly case, it was well known in the hip-hop community that he was guilty. The was songs dating back from 2003 with lines from rappers about him. The problem was, he was still making people in power huge amounts of money. Once that money dried up, they rightfully threw him under the bus.
One young woman went to brand's production company with the allegation, and was fobbed off as looking for a pay out. Remember the saville doc by Theroux? it seems the first line of defence for the sex abusers is to label the victim as seeking paying off, it obfuscates the issue and provides an escape route for sympathetic fans.

As said already, I suspect there will be other victims and hopefully this report will inspire them to out his behaviours, if the messages have been saved and there's any witness evidence out there, hopefully he gets his shot in the dock. (not a typo) It's only when abusers are caught and condemned that society can come to terms with and start to change these abhorrent attitudes. Sadly the current malaise seems to be to blame it on generation 'woke' and go back to business as usual.

I'm alright Jack, she's not my daughter or sister or mother or aunt etc...

Watched the programme with the missus last night and we were both confused as this was trial by TV and wondered why this evidence wasn't left for the police to get on with it.
After reading these pages and what's in the press I noted what a small proportion of cases of rape/ sexual assault actually get to court.
I've always had an opinion of Brand that he is a lewd, unfunny narcissist who's obsessed with sex.
Trial by media appears to be the modern way to deal with the likes of him, it's up to him now to make the next move, his career may well be over as a result of the programme.
Denying the allegations is not enough though will a trial now be possible after being so publicly accused?
I hope it goes to court and innocent girls/women get their justice.

You actually buy into this?

Wow.
I know very little of this story other than the rough idea of the accusations so I have no input into this other than if he is guilty then I hope he is punished accordingly. But generally speaking for the past several years now accusations are carrying far more weight than actual guilt or evidence and it is quite worrying from an outside perspective that people just believe things these days without it ever being proven.

Whether they are actually guilty or not only they know but for example Kevin Spacey has been a nonce for years but has been found not guilty in court and that doesn't matter anymore as long as that accusation is made. That Noel Clarke lost his business he worked to build and there was never a case to be heard. You never hear about the innocent verdicts either other than small print in the paper. If these cases are lies for whatever the reason they would be lies then it would show how dangerous information can be if people believe it even if it's not true.

Was it only one woman who went? Hopefully more feel confident enough to go report him to the correct people. I’ve seen the saville documentary but years ago, can’t remember much of it. The issue that you’ll have with this, regarding people wanting paying off. Is you’ll have people coming forward in order to receives pay off or to gain 15 minutes of fame, when they wasn’t involved. This is where it gets tricky and complicated. Because, this is where victims aren’t believed. You’ll have media, news outlets and people all on social media reporting on it for clicks, likes and to make money off it. It’s all morally wrong really.

Clearly there will be enough evidence for channel 4 and the times to report it with confidence without a court case against them. Hopefully it goes ahead and he’s charged and the evidence comes to light with the victims been justified and can find some sort of peace.

To be fair if you read any list of accusations then you would assume the person was guilty of the crime as I am sure most of us have done so in the past for other people accused!
I'm not commenting on any list of accusations.
I'm commenting on Russel Brand's list of accusations.

I wasn’t paying full attention to the show but from what I saw the only criminal allegation made against him was from the American lady.

The rest was basically “he’s a creepy sex pest” which I’d imagine most people already assumed was the case.

The police are now seeking other victims. This will end up like Jimmy Savile…..

TBF Weinstein should have been dealt with years before, after Ambra Gutierrez went to the NYPD with her complaint and they got a very strong case against him.

For all its great he was finally dealt with, the people who helped him then (Cyrus Vance, the people who blacklisted her in the modelling industry, the hacks who attacked her in the press) ever faced any reckoning legally or in the media for what they’d done.

Le Tissier may be a whopper, but he’s not wrong in pointing out the partiality of the media when it comes to wrongdoing. I mean, contrast this scandal (which is front page news and widely discussed) with the one around Dan Wootton (which is still mostly confined to Byline Times).
Agree fully re Weinstein.

Tbh I don’t even know who Wootton is!

Sounds like it might be a case of “ignorance is bliss”.

I don't understand why this individual is described as A list. I have never found him remotely entertaining and still recall his horrible remarks about Leonard Sachs - cheap and demeaning.

I would rate him as Z list

I agree, but at the time these alleged crimes took place he was very popular, which is why he probably got away with so much.

The Dispatches special was a very difficult watch, feel so sorry for those women and there will definitely be more coming out after the show. I’m not confident that it’ll end up with him going down, like Weinstein, it sounds like he was very well protected to the same level as what Saville was.

The situation around Noel Clarke is a perfect example of what is so wrong here - accused of sexual assault, harrassment and general bullying and punished (by his clients dropping him) on the basis of those allegations alone. No independent investigation, no significant right of reply (they edited down his lawyer's response to the allegations) and no observable process.

His only redress is to go to court, at very substantial cost and after his business has collapsed, to prove on the balance of probabilities that he didn't do what is claimed.
