I presume the defendants lawyers would use anything they could but not sure why the AG is stepping in to say it - apparently very unusual and reflects a very outdated position.


Is the AG saying that for instance the Times should not do further reporting on the accusers it has already published? Or the new ones that have stepped forward in that reporting? Obviously the journalists need to be very careful about defamation, and had an army of lawyers to check things before printing to avoid it, but this warning seems to go above and beyond that issue.

Does this warning just apply to Brand (no such warning issued with Philip Schofield for instance)? Or sexual abuse cases in general? Or any crime reporting?

I don't really know why the AG has seen the need to step in, she's a KC and I'm not. It may be down to the quite unusual way in which this 'case' has developed, ie predominantly in the public domain, and there is a fine balance between allowing the right to air opinion on matters not (yet) subject to contempt laws, and something being done that would scupper a fair trial. With lots of stuff being splaffed all over the press, I can kind of see why there is a little concern that some of it may be used to claim a fair trial cant be had.

That’s what he started as anyway, whatever he evolved into I am not sure. I seen him wearing high heels, long scruffy hair, talking absolute crap and decided to ignore him from there because he was a grade A knob head champagne socialist.

I’m surprised he was given a platform since he was a well known dirty git, he had a 16 year old girl at 30. Not to dissimilar to Schofield. The law needs to change. Both horrible eeee dirty gits.

Personally it doesn't matter what his politics are. Liberal, Toy, Green, Communist - what he's been accused of is horrible.
