Hi all,
Another Spurs fan here and wanted to comment on Lennon as I have been reading this thread with interest.
To echo the other spurs fan on the other page who summed it up well indeed, Lennon needed a fresh challenge. By all accounts his attitude has always been brilliant at Spurs, but for some reason under Poch he wasn't really enjoying it. Poch clearly didn't rate him, and I know why. I have wanted Lennon upgraded for a long time as he doesn't fit the system Poch wants to play, or indeed AVB before him which is more like the Mirallas, Chadli, type of winger who will likely get 10 goals a season etc and has more end product. That isn't Lennons game.
That said, he has been a very good servant for Spurs, and we always were a better team with him in it, up until the end of last season. He has amazing pace, a fantastic first touch, good close control with the ball, very high work rate and he tracks back brilliantly so defensively your fullback will always have cover. He is so dangerous on the counter and what he lacks for in movement, i.e. he doesn't really make runs in behind the defence, he makes up for in pure pace and directness. A big bugbear of mine was he often stood still and didn't make as many off the ball runs as he should have.
He often favours getting to the byline and then hanging the ball up towards the back post. Mixing it up with drilling it low across the box. He is a really poor shooter. That said he still a couple of times a season scored a goal. His end product isn't the best but he has plenty of other strengths.
All in all it's win win for player and Everton. Lennon has the chance to revitalise his career at a big club with a team with alot of potential, and Everton get a proven quality PL winger on loan with the option to buy.
Wish him all the best and I hope you guys spank Liverpool silly on the weekend.
