Aaron Lennon ( On Loan January 2015 )

How much would you pay for Lennon in the Summer

  • Up to the rumoured 6 or 7 million - worth every penny

  • No more than 5 million - he's OK, but not worth any more

  • No more than 3 million - he's got no end product ffs

  • Wouldn't take him on a free, he's badly gash

  • Stop asking me questions and stick the grill on

I think £6m that has been quoted for Lennon sounds decent in todays market. I suppose it depends on who else is available, if we can get Ayew on a free, sign Yarmolenko and Lennon. Keep McGeady and probably sell Pienaar and Mirallas, that should give us enough cover out wide.

Ideally I would prefer to sell McGeady and keep Mirallas, but I think Mirallas will go regardless
Is the correct answer.

Would people be happy with something like 10 mil plus Lennon for Miralles.

Personally wouldnt mind it as long as another high profile winger came in as a direct replacement for Kev aswell
I would take 12 mill plus lennon for kev.
I love kev and don't want him going but I think he wants out.
There is a player in there if a manager could get his head sorted he will be special

I wouldn't exactly be happy, because I wouldn't want to strengthen Spurs; but I'd consider it, because it's roughly the right value for Mirallas. We would however have to bring in someone boss to play on the left, because our current best lineup IMHO involves Lennon on the right and Kev on the left. So the £10m you'd make on the deal would have to be spent almost straight away.

Tough choice, that. I'm not sure if I would rather just sign Lennon for the £6m, and sell McGeady and Pienaar to raise some of it.

Deulofeu's work rate wasn't too bad.

The big issue I had was that he is a bit greedy but he's 21 and if he was available we would be absolutely mad not to take him.

The problem with Lennon is that at 28 next year he would have no resale value plus he would likely want a 4 year deal which would take him up to 32, even 3 years is 31. We essentially would be paying 6m and reasonably big wages for 4 years for realistically 2 years before he starts to drop in performances.

I know that's a bit harsh but given all our older players and seeing them their performances and injuries it's something to take into consideration.

That said if we could get 3m-4m for McGeady then I would take Lennon back as long as it didn't cost us more than a net 2m-3m. I want to us to buy two young (21 year old) wingers/forwards so having someone with Lennon's experience would be vital as the other option and McGeady isn't good enough.

btw - I'm assuming Mirallas will be sold.
All very good points.

But who in the name of Zeus' butthole would pay £3m for McGeady?

£6m for Lennon? Deary me, we got Mirallas for that. It's a "pass" from me.

Not really a fair comparison. Mirallas was bought three years ago and he was a risk. He's also prone to niggling injuries which means he'll probably have averaged 30 league games per season over his time here.

In retrospect Mirallas was a bargain but he just as easily could have been Pienaar to Spurs gash.

Good points there, if Spurs so keen to move Lennon on, tell them 6 mill too much, 5 mill is the tops we will go,take it or leave it.

Try and haggle them down to £4/5m and I'd consider that a good deal. I wouldn't be THAT bothered if we paid £6m though. Especially if we managed to get Konoplyanka in on a free.

£6m on an average 28 year old footballer? why not save that £6m and put it towards a quality winger that will cost more?

see how he goes the rest of the season, hasnt had a real chance to show what he can bring as the team have been crap, £6m is nothing these days for a player who has done ok in the prem, pienaar looks finished, mcready isnt good enough for this league , and kev can get to fook as far as im concerned after sulking most of this season , looks half arsed, so that means we need a few in as long as there is a bit of quality coming in i dont mind him.
