Everton midfielder Abdoulaye Doucoure will be out for at least a month and will not return to action until after the international break, manager Carlo Ancelotti has revealed.
The 28-year-old Frenchman, who signed from Watford in a £20 million deal last summer, suffered the injury recently.
Doucoure has been a near ever-present in the Premier League for the club this season, missing only January’s draw with Leicester City at Goodison.
What has been said?
Rumours have mounted over the last 48 hours that the influential midfielder has suffered a broken foot, with some speculation that he may not play again this season.
Ancelotti was unable to give any specifics on the nature of the problem or exactly how long he will be out for, apart from admitting that the former Watford man won’t play until after the international break.
Following Everton’s 2-0 defeat by Chelsea at Stamford Bridge, Ancelotti said: “Honestly I don’t know really what happened.
“They are checking. We will be more precise in the next few days but for sure he's out and until the break he will be out.
“I think it’s an injury which is quite important but I don’t know for how long.”
