Sometimes this place is hard to take.

Doucoure has had a very good season for us and was hugely influential in some of our better games.

He got injured and it affected us badly and he simply was not fully ready to return but was rushed back because of his importance to the team.

A very good player who will be important next season.

Not directing it at you personally but it is so unsurprising that people are saying this since he's come back and not fixed anything. Which was going to happen because we were dreadful before he got hurt too.

We’ve just had a really bizarre run where everyone important has got injured.

When they were both playing well, I thought Doucoure and Allan were playing great together.
When Allan had his time out, Doucoure basically carried the side for a long time.

We just haven’t had a prolonged period with both actually fit. Think he’s been a good signing, but he was so unfit in this return, seems so bizarre that he was guaranteed a start, what message does that send to Davies etc?

All about opinions I suppose. To me he's just a very, very average player. His ability to cover ground and move faster than a glacier made him a pretty important cog in our wheel, but he'd had an up and down season before his injury, and as well as being 'hugely influential in some of our better games', he'd been completely anonymous in some of our worst. He's not the worst player in the squad, or the biggest issue, but a side coming 10th with Abdoulaye Doucoure in its midfield is not in the least bit surprising to anyone who's seen much of him.

He’s got all the physical attributes we need but his technical ability is up there with the worst I have seen.

I think some people’s idea of a balanced midfield is having Doucoure and James - one can’t run but is technically gifted, the other can run but is technically not great.

The reality though, is that these days you need players that can do both to a good level.

Are we actually that much better when he does? Or is that the latest coping mechanism our fans are using to get around the fact that we are absolutely diabolical?
We're not massively better, but realistically, that's down to the shortcomings of the other 10 players. He can only affect 1 position so the gains are going to be minimal. When we have 5 better players in the team, alongside more than capable players such as him and Allan, that's when you get the best out of him plus the added effect of the better players too.

I have much more faith in getting a result with him in the team rather than Gylfi, Gomes, Delph or Davies.

I agree he ain’t great on the ball. But I feel we aren’t using his strengths. He should be in the midfield to win the ball back pass it off then get into the box. Every time crosses come into the box him Richie and DCL should be there, 1 At the front post one in the middle and one at the far post. With James or siggy on the edge off the box for any knock downs. When I see him trying to play in the middle and dictate the game, well we all see what happens. The major problem for last few seasons, is the space between our front players and the midfield. To easy to play through and easy for the opponents to win the second balls in the area.

Unfortunately hes only a box to box midfielder off the ball on the ball has a lot of offensive and passing limitations. I thought when he played at Watford he was far better on the ball then here. But to be far I didn't watch their games on the regular

Apart from the last couple of games (after injury) he has had a decent season. Not brilliant on the ball but is all over the pitch breaking play up and being available. Him and Allan try to actually carry the ball and are forward thinking players, not safety at all costs players. I think he has been a good signing for us.
