My very thoughts indeed. The midfield is set and he will be a fringe player in midfield & CB which he has played in the past.

And this is just what we need , a good quality utility player. Shame he isn't fit now. Could save us a few bob.

Not disagreeing with that, I'm saying it's possible to compare how good players are overall, while recognizing they're better at different things

Otherwise, there's no Lampard/Scholes/Gerrard debates, no ''Who's the best PL striker ever'' debates etc., rarely are 2 players the same
