Townsend is currently our top goalscorer and also has less minutes per goal than anyone else bar Calvert Lewin.

Meanwhile Doucoure is our top assist, right behind him is none other than Townsend.

And yet Townsend barring injury probably shouldn't start another match this season. Football is weird.

I'd not play Doucoure and Allan together again if I could avoid it and as imo Allan is better that means Doucoure is a backup.

He’s a decent player in the context of our squad but fairly poor in the context of the league. It shouldn’t be that controversial to say these things but it always feels like it is.

He’s not an embarrassment of a footballer who should be in league one but he’s pretty limited and not massively effective on the whole. We’re better with him in the team in the short term, we’d be better without him in the team in the long term.
