If we get relegated we'd have no money to
pay the kind of wages he's undoubtedly on.
I don’t really understand the timing of it, but I guess the counter argument is we’d also have no money to replace him? So 5 mil for a year is cheaper than having to buy a decent championship midfielder? That or we’re confident someone would pay a small fee for him if we go down.

Sell him in the summer please (on the condition we buy a 21 year old version of Doucoure but can pass, shoot, control properly and hit the ball true from the french 3rd division for a fraction of what we receive for the outgoing.)

Easy really.

Oh good, the donkey for another year.

Misplaced passes, half arsed performances and then once in a blue moon we get a performance. We get told how great he his and if only he can reproduce those glory days of Watford when he scored 8 goals

200k would be able to replace him with someone who can control a football lol

How would the club know we're staying up? It's not a pre-recorded season lol

Because football is a rigged game. Entertainment above all else, last day antics with that sponsorship and advertising revenue imperative at all costs. Everyone well paid to go along with it. Why defeats only hurt supporters and not the ones involved.

(Actually i am taking the mick but it will probably go the route of wrestling at some point)

This.

Not trying to defend this but a decent Championship midfielder would set us back possibly more?

I can only assume we think we can sell him if we go down. Otherwise that makes no sense whatsoever.
We do also need to keep an eye on actually having a squad if we go down though. Midfield I imagine will be bare bones with Price and Davies leaving, Onana would definitely be sold, Iwobi possibly sold too and Gana I’m guessing might have some sort of clause. So maybe we just don’t want to let another midfielder leave for the sake of 5 million when we’ll already have to shop for multiple other replacements.
