2023/24 Abdoulaye Doucoure

He’s very similar to Niasse in the way he plays up front and seems to bamboozle defenders by being so clumsy and ungainly, it somehow works and I haven’t worked out how. The trade off to that is, very much like Niasse, he often bamboozles himself and his feet don’t connect to his brain. Always gives you something to talk about, never a dull moment.

He's a lot better than niasse

Fair play, took his goal really well and was all over the pitch. Not quiet sure why he was so effective yesterday, but so off it previously.

If he is going to play that role, he has to score and assist. By those standards he has been poor this season, but today he was excellent and unlucky not to have two great goals. More of that DOUCS.
2 in 6 is good start from someone who’s not just an offensive player.

He offers a lot more than that. He’s a box to box player who’s back in midfield making tackles as soon as attack breaks down.

Got 7 goals in his last 16 games as well i seen last night, he's a dreadful "footballer" but can't argue with that return, he's very good at finding space in the box tbf

He's an awkward player, but, a great athlete, he really never stops running and is very effective in Dyche's style of play. Until we can afford a better class of player and/or have a manager who plays a more controlled style of football, I believe that Doucoure is going to be a vital part of the team.

Not from what I’ve observed in terms of ability. That’s not to say Niasse wasn’t effective.
What do you mean by "ability". Doucoure has almost 300 appearances in the top tier of English and French football, has been our best player this season, scored crucial goals last season, and was Watford's player of the season a few years back.

Niasse struggled at Everton and every team he's played for since, could barely get a game at Burton Albion last year and is now at Morecambe in League 2. Not sure how you think they're on the same level "in terms of ability".

Niasse in the 2017/18 season was as effective as Doucoure has been for us since Dyche came in, at the specific role of playing up front and bundling the ball into the net using whatever part of his body he could. I’m not sure what else Doucoure offers us on the pitch, but that’s not knocking the job he’s actually doing. He has a knack for being in the right place at the right time, as Niasse did. He can’t control or pass a football, like Niasse. That’s all I’m saying.
