Not at all. In this context, they have unlimited funds, and that matters. Clubs are always ramping up prices when the buying club is known to be awash with cash.

Do I think he's worth 50 million? No. Do I expect it to be an offer we can't refuse in order for us to part with him? Yes.

It's quite simple really.

20 million lol

But they will never, ever offer £50m and we are absolutely skint so how could we turn down £20m for a 31-year old that's starting to pick up hamstring injuries?

This, if your going to loose your most influential player in January you need two things, a ridiculous offer and then some to compensate and a deal in the chamber that brings a similar impact in the short term minimum and at best long term.

Elsewise GTF.
We wanted Ndiaye before he joined Marseille and he’s been linked again this window, could he do a similar job? The way Dyche has that role it’s hard to come up with replacements.

How bad his injury is would probably be a consideration as well. If he's going to be out for a good lot of games then cashing in could make sense.

Although I'm not convinced we would ever get to spend any of the money, no matter how much we get. And we need to replace him - he is a key player because of the fairly one dimensional Dyche system.

All I can say is, I'm glad you're not doing the negotiating.

I don't think £20 million is enough for us to lose our most important player mid-season.

I could be wrong. I'd just hope we adopt a tough stance. End of the day; I'd rather keep him than sell for that. Contrary to popular belief, we don't only have 3 or 4 sale-able playing assets. Put it this way, how many of the current squad are un-sellable, as in full wages off the books? Holgate, Keane, Dele, Gomes (Harrison and Danjuma) is my guess. Maybe Gueye.

You're thinking about all of this as an emotional Everton fan.

I'm thinking about this from a realistic business point of view based on Everton's recent dealings and current plight.

If someone walked in and dropped £20m for him I can't see them saying no.

Because we'd need to replace him. Because we need to stay in the league.
Spot on Danny. Ignore the market value and all that - he is worth way, way more than £25m for us due to how much he influences our style of play.

And because we're in the financial mess as some have highlighted, we'd probably not use the money to replace him. or at least not all of it.
