Ancelotti was also right in removing any ball responsibility from him and using his endless energy to retrieve the ball and lay it off to literally anyone else.

Just compare him to who palace had playing in a similar position - Wharton. Given we paid about 10m more than they did for him.

I get what Walks is saying, he's a prem footballer of our club's current standing. To find a better player than him in that position would then facilitate us being a better placed club. Tim Howard was the same for us in the Moyes years, not good enough for a real team, but our 7th place level of goalkeeper. I hate seeing Doucoure play for us, but I also hate Everton being a relegation material side.

I think we have 4 better centre mids than Doucoure in the current squad and 3 better number 10's. Injuries notwithstanding, he should never be more than a bench option.

Dropping him deeper has had a good effect on the team because that is were he can do the least damage .

When he plays further up the pitch we cannot create , hold possession, counter attack or pose any threat and we find ourselves camped in our own half getting battered .

He is shocking and offers nothing other than being able to run.

Even with McNeil’s free header … docs is in the way putting him off… McNeil still should have done better but doucs is always getting in the way of things, is offside or is wasting simple passes that should be leading to chances beacuse he has zero skill of footballing intelligence…

Dropping him completely would have an even better effect. Gueye is a better defensive midfielder by miles and as subpar as gueye can be on the ball is still better than doucoure with the ball at his feet. Garner and Tim are better on the ball by far and can do more going forward. Garner is also a better defensive player.Tim is still young so probably loses on the defensive front, we do lose shape in midfield when Tim plays.

But basically doucoure should be a last resort in all midfield positions he can play. Thanks for the important goals, but please stop playing him.

It’s needed

Just removing Keane Doucoure Gueye from the team would do wonders for any manager who wants to play any sort of possession game.

Coleman can’t stay fit and can’t handle the ball well enough anyway. Young will need to go.

DCL and the loan signings are the obvious ones to address. Mangala looks decent and I’m interested in seeing Broja.

I’d love to see us make this clean sweep out the squad in the summer.

The absolute conundrum to many of the opinions expressed on here is statistically - we get far more point when he plays then when he doesn't.

We haven't won a game in the league since Lampard was sacked without him in the team - that's coming up on two years.

….amazing stat. Given that period of time it can’t be a coincidence and must reflect his impact when in the team.

We all know him well enough by now, he’s not very good in possession but is effective without the ball. Maybe he’s the one that best fits with his teammates. I do think it’ll be progress when we’re winning games with him on the bench.

Dyche has to find that formula.
