AC Milan use the English spelling because they were formed by an English man. Inter used the Italian spelling because they were primarily formed by an Italian.

They get peeved because it's part of their heritage, which I get. Only in English-speaking countries do they use Milan; in Italy, it's Miano although rarely used.

Similar to why they dislike their stadium being called the San Siro as it's the Giuseppe Meazza. History and heritage mean a lot to most fans.

Anyway, I've always liked Inter due to the blue.

I’ve always found it intriguing how much influence the English had on European football, the majority of teams had English managers as their first, and we’ll Milan, Barca incorporate the St. George’s cross on their badges.

Genoa, are even named to incorporate an additional “C” as they’re Cricket & Football Club.

You’re spot on about Milan. In England we have a weird habit of including the city after, namely Sporting CP (Lisbon), Internazionale (Inter Milan), AZ (Alkmaar)… it’s quite common.

A lot of it is money. Italy isn't economically well off enough to compete to start and then you toss in a handful of oil states running teams.

Overall yes but Juve and Inter have still managed to have some decent teams. Juve have made two CL finals recently and had decent teams with Pirlo Pogba Vidal Marchisio under Conte and Allegri. Even the Inter team under Conte with Lukaku and Martinez upfront was alright.

I feel like Milan have just won the odd scudetto that no one really wanted to win, and haven’t been deep in a CL for a long time.

Juve don't make those runs if it isn't for a wealth of home grown talent and that's why they've fallen now. Trying to just compete in the market they can't do.

Neither. They are both massive clubs with great histories.

The only thing that was offputting about Milan (AC) was that Berlusconi owned them for ages. In the late 80s and early 90s they were the best team in Europe, but Inter have always somehow managed to keep up with them, especially domestically. *

* Wish I could say the same about the 2 clubs in another city that immediately springs to mind...

Inter were cool as you want in the mid-1960s heyday. Imagine being an Inter fan sweeping up domestically and internationally with a tough as teak team that could also play.

Milan may have dominated the 90s but by that time Berlusconi's money was talking and they spent a lot on superstars.
