Why have I never heard of Connor Grant before these last two weeks?

Again; Accrington is a crap team, and evertontv was great.

4 goals, all from set pieces thats means we didn't score in open play against a crap team.
Martinez want Everton to play as Barcelona, BUT he forgets he has players at Everton. That can be a problem this season, with his passing game approach.

Nice to se Grant again, promising against Vienna, and did ok.
Guyue hasn't improve since we bought him.
Vellios was quiet, must be more mobile.


Much hard work to be done.

shown why we need a coutinho type player and an opposite winger to kev as he was the only one who looked capable of scoring from open play, I know the lads are getting used to the new system but a lot including baines imo didn't look too comfortable I know its only pre season but still looked a bit rusty and not as fluid

Assessment:

What we expected really, some good play against relatively poor opposition. Shame we had to concede a goal due to Jags practising some stuff he saw on Fifa Street and Oviedo switching off. But other than that it was a good performance from most. Just a few thoughts on some of the players:

Oviedo - Good performance, offensively and defensively. Just a shame he switched off for a second.
Gibbo - Great again, looks like he's going to be the main man in our midfield.
Felli - Much better shift from him, I much prefer him in a deeper role.
Osman - Much better in an advanced role, he was a tad shaky at times but played some good balls / link up plus a goal.
Coleman - Boss, naturally.
Gueye - Giving him the benefit of the doubt for now
