Ademola Lookman

Nothing has changed for me. He still has 3 years on his contract and has no power to force a move. I don't blame Lookman for wanting to go, we have been an absolute shambles the last year and he (certainly from our point of view) hasn't done anything wrong to warrant his lack of game time or miss-management. I do have a serious problem with Leipzig and the way they've publically courted him. Their director of football has openly talked about the player wanting to leave, they've tagged him in official posts and they're now telling their national press that the deal will happen and it will happen for as little as possible. It completely undermines and belittles Everton football club and makes us look like pushovers.

Regardless of Lookman’s desire to leave i would be blocking this move, give the lad a chance and play him and trying to win him back over. Tell Leipzig to do one and that if they discuss our player in the press again we will make an official complaint.

If we get to January and he’s still not happy we’ll look at the options then but with 8 days of the window to go no move will be sanctioned.

This being Everton of course I fully expect him to be sold and no replacement brought in.

And I will never get grown men who hurl abuse at other (younger) adults for what is essentially switching jobs? Or calling them spoilt brats because they want the opportunity to further their careers?

It is not acceptable to say he's a very good prospect and we should not be selling him?

I understand perfectly the reasons why we are, we probably have a price and if that is met then he can go, but it's a shame.

i didnt call him a spoilt brat.................

i just dont necessarily think its worth bedwetting over someone whos played about 10 games for us

I know you didn't, it's just the general vibe.

I'm not bedwetting. I'm far from a panicker on here. I'm pretty much supportive of the club a lot of the time.

But while I totally understand the reasons for him leaving and accept that, on paper, he wouldn't be getting in my starting XI, it's a shame that it's likely come down to us having to sell a very bright prospect because the club messed up so much last season. And it's been a continuous trend of Moshir's tenure so far.

I don't understand why we're letting Leipzig away with such a public tapping up....

These things happen though and it is rare, this is probably the first time we have sold a player we collectively wanted to keep to a team that isn't much bigger than us.

It has happened to City with Sancho, continues to happen to Barcelona with their youngsters, United lost their best two prospecto Pogba and Ravel Morrison a few years ago.

Ensure we get a good few, a big sell on clause and then reinvest in a better young player.
Players that were out of contract. We have to do this on our terms.

Mate. Leipzig have far better forwards than us. He'll find it harder to get in their team than he would in ours.

This is the first (and hopefully only) serious fallout from the Allardyce era. He has to be replaced by a young equally talented star like Lozano. Otherwise it's bad business.

I disagree with those who say we can't keep hold of him if he wants to leave. He has 3 years left on his contract. We control the situation, not him.

He played more consecutive games for them in half a season than he did for 1 and a half for us.

They want him as one of their main players. Here he's a squad player that has to make a name for himself.

It's logical he'll want to go. I don't think he's got the desire to stay around with another club wanting him.

handful of appearances for us and thinks hes too good for us, not many have gone on to do well after thinking the same thing.

ideally well replace him though, lozano?

Lozano has recently stated he is happy at PSV. Add in Brands being coy when his name was mentioned at the press conference, his advisers said a move to Everton would be a good one and it isn't beyond the realms of possible.

Him and Richarlison would be hugely exciting. Both are capable of swapping wings and going central too. Add this to Walcott and Tosun and things look good upfront.*

Lookman so far scored on his debut and played well for 10 mins at Anfield and in the European dead rubber. He has ability and should be kept unless the above is doable. Everton need to secure the replacement before selling Ademola. Good thing is the German transfer window is open beyond ours so they can sign him if we get the upgrade of Hirving or similar (we where tentatively linked with Karamoh too).

*Onyekuru to return next season too.

There have been stories that he has refused to play in pre season friendlies, but they may just be stories.
However, for a young player to be so insistent about leaving even though the club is under a completely new management team leads me to believe there is something badly fractured with his relationship with the club or my own suspicion is that maybe he has problems with some of his team mates and in particular with some of those of the same age.....just my suspicion based on nothing.

There may be somethi ng in this. After the U20 WC win there was a photo taken of Connolly Kenny DCL and Dowell posing with the trophy. I thought it was strange at the time. Still. We can't let him dictate the terms of his departure.
