Or, he is legitimately injured and that's why he didn't play?

It just worries me that we're all assuming the worst when there's zero proof to suggest we should

Hmm nah you hear more about injuries (Mina etc.) during the week. None of us knew he was injured till a quick update just before kick-off. Wasn’t in the squad last weekend and the club never said anything. Nothing in the Bournemouth presser either.

..I think the indication is that he wants to leave but the extent of this is the unknown. It’ll be interesting to see what the next few days bring.

If this is the case, very interested in a post from @davek yesterday saying he should be shown the door for wanting out. Not sure how that equates to his criticism of the club and not the players when Barkley and Lukaku we’re doing similar.
Barkley and Lukaku being compared to a lad who played half a dozen games for Everton. That right there is your initial mistake.

I mean, if he does indeed do us over then I'll hold my hands up and tear into him, but I don't see any concrete proof that he is actually doing that, so I'm giving him the benefit of the doubt and hoping this all works out

It's troubling that everyone has piled on this young lad when there doesn't as yet seem to be any reason why

Another team wants to sign him. How's that his fault? If anything, it merely highlights how good he is that another team wants him on their books and are willing to pay a large sum to acquire him

We've no reason to think that dirty pool is taking place here

Because it's madness mate

Why the hell are so many people piling onto this young lad in here when we've had ZERO proof that he's actually done anything wrong?

It's really chuffing weird

Piling on?

It's a forum, and it only works in a non-stagnant format if people have opinions. I think people are quite right to question why a young player who has achieved nothing of note for us in nearly 18 months seems to be injured (or not) throughout pre-season and then, just before a game he was almost guaranteed to be involved in, picks up another mystery injury that appeared nowhere in the week prior.

We know from Allardyce that he has had previous form in agitating for a move away. He came on against Valencia - his one opportunity to get on the pitch in a serious game pre-season - and strolled about halfarsed.

What's genuinely weird is people who post lambasting supporters for questioning his commitment to the Everton side. Lukaku may have been the king of the want-away comment but he always made himself available and performed when it mattered. We've had very little of value out of Lookman for a while.

If he’s done nothing wrong how do you explain being behind Sandro (striker) in the pecking order on the wing?

Do we know that?

We know he hasn't made the last two match day squads. We've been told he's injured

It very easily could be the case that Silva kept him out of the squad at the weekend because he wanted to start him yesterday, but then he got hurt

He was in the match day squad against Southampton but didn't come on because Saints pulled a goal back so he wasn't the right sub at that time as we were trying to close the game out

These are all rational explanations for what's going on. People are simply assuming the worst because they want to

If they offer anything close to £28m bite their hands off. He's all potential for now and to get that for a player that's done next to nothing in an Everton shirt and shown a complete lack of respect for the club would be incredible.

I have my doubts he has the mental toughness to make it the whole way to the top - especially if he's sulking already at this stage.

My reasoning is just as rational as yours.

I think he is legit injured, just can't see silva being the type to give into lookman sulking and agreeing not to play him, that or he'd come out and be like this little snake boy wants to slither to Leipzig he'd say in his presser

my feeling is, he might be carrying a slight knock and maybe he's been told he'll play Saturday in place of richarlison so doesn't want to risk aggravating it

My reasoning is just as rational as yours.

I don't think it is because your reasoning requires you to believe the absolute worst in a person you've never even met

Mine doesn't require to believe the best in him. Doing what he's supposed to do hardly makes him a saint, it just makes him a professional, which most footballers are

The evidence points more strongly to my stance than yours does

My reasoning is just as rational as yours.

And better substantiated by the fact he has done much the same to agitate for his previous loan move.

There's a very weird personality cult around a player who would, quite clearly, like to be anywhere but at Everton.
