Is this the Bolasie who has 2 goals and 4 assists for us?
It is. But the timeframe we are talking about is the first 13 games where he got 1 goal and 4 assists. Had he not been hurt that season he could have very well hit double digit assists for the first time for Everton since probably Baines sometime before Moyes left. He had a lot of flaws but it's inaccurate to say he didn't create chances when he first got here. For reference he got hurt in early December of that season and had 4 league assists. Currently we don't have anyone over 2.

Anyway Lookman isn't Bolasie. He's more composed in possession and his game has more technique and finesse in it than Bolasie who was all about being big and fast to create openings. Lookman has the potential to really cut teams open and we need to give him a run of starts to see if he's ready to actually do it.

Edit: The last season where a player of ours had 10+ Premier League assists was Baines in 10/11. Before that was Andy Hinchcliffe in 1994/95. Bolasie had he kept close to the pace he had would probably have gotten their. Meaning he could have turned in one of maybe our top five to ten individual creative seasons in 25 years had he stayed healthy. Seriously.

This was the same point I argued with Bolaise pre-injury.
I think that the negatives will inevitably outweigh the positives when a manager talks himself into accommodating slapstick players (Niasse's fabled goals-to-minutes being another example).

Not that I'd put Lookman into that category yet. I just had to post something because I can't abide praise for Bolasie.

He actually looked better off the left probably because he has Digne behind him.I would probably go a front three of
Lookman. Richarlison
DCL tomorrow. Give Bernard a rest.

His support matters. The Newcastle game Gana and Coleman struggled to link up with him and it wasn't entirely because Lookman couldn't find space sometimes they couldn't find him. Forwards are always going to need someone to get the ball to them for them to work their magic.
