Ademola Lookman

It’s more than lookman has done for us, unless I’ve missed something.

Yeah it probably is, but id bet my house on Lookman turning out to be the superior player during their careers. Davies has also had a lot more game time than Lookman, because he has a good attitude... so Lookman could learn from him in that regard.

Lookman also scored in that game funnily enough :p

So despite his questionable attitude, lack of goals and assists, and doing anything of note for the club in 36 appearances (mainly as a sub because he’s not up to standard in the eyes of the manager). You back him to be a better player than one of the youngest captains we’ve had who scored a more lookman type goal than lookman. Who’s also a year his junior.

And I know he scored his only goal for us in that game, can’t remember it though.

Lack of goals and assists don't really factor into it for me when a player is drip fed minutes as sub and it remains to be seen if his attitude is a permanent thing or just because he's not happy at Everton or in Liverpool for whatever reasons. So at the moment yes im fairly confident that he will have a better career than Davies who I think at this stage in his career looks quite limited.

“He is our player. You know what my technical opinion of the player is and the player knows. For me it is not an issue,” said Silva.

“I understand some clubs are interested in him but at the end I told you last week, I told you two weeks ago, (in) my opinion he is the present and the future of the club and we have to try to convince him to go in this way as well,”

Pretty clear that he rates his ability but not his attitude... and yes his words a few weeks ago about him not having improved enough in training are strong, which to me suggests he knows the lad has talent but he's frustrated he's not putting the effort in.
Isnt that quote from last summer? I would say the one from a month or two ago carries more weight.
To you his comments suggest its only efforts based, to me they suggest effort and a lack of improvement. He needs to improve a lot of areas of his game to challenge Richy or Bernard, if he’s not improving, whats the point? If its only down to him not being happy here, id call that being very unprofessional and another reason to sell him.

That specific quote is but he repeated it later in the season as well but the quote you mention is the most recent.

I interpret his most recent criticism as again being primarily down to attitude, work rate etc but ultimately who knows. I agree if he's not improving then there is no point, just like I think its pointless keeping him if he doesn't want to be here.

Maybe it is unprofessional but I was equally unprofessional at that age. In-fact even at the age of 38 id say my ability to perform to my best in a job is influenced by how happy I am in said job... even if its only at a sub conscious level. His attitude was never criticised at any of his other clubs with both Charlton and England u20's manager speaking highly of him, his attitude must have also been on point in Leipzig hence why Hassenhutl is supposedly interested in signing him for Southampton

I wasnt, and i hated my job at 21ish. Most people do, yet still show up and learn their trade in a professional way. Dont make excuses for his diva behaviour and lack of work ethic.

Well good for you for being such a model professional. You’re making it sound like he is some ultimate dosser when you don’t really have a clue about how unprofessional he’s being, if he is as unprofessional as you suggest and is a diva (lack of effort doesn’t make you a diva...) it’s bizarre that he keeps getting picked for the match day squad... that doesn’t send a very good message to the team or youngsters does it, doss about and act like a diva and you’ll still make the squad and get some minutes near the end.

Truth is he probably isn’t dossing and being a diva, it’s probably less extreme than that... not everything is black or white, many shades of grey. How deep of me.

Jumping to quite a few conclusions there. Im starting to feel this isnt just a debate about a lacking footballer to you but a point to win. I cant be bothered with that. If you think he’s golden, cool. I dont, and wont until he improves a lot.

There is nothing BS about him probably being the most tricky dribbler in the squad. The point about him requiring little backlift to generate power in his shots is also accurate. Just because you've been too dozy too notice or not bothered watching any clips of him at Charlton, Leipzig etc doesn't mean its not true.

I'll drop in my own profound statement now 'you saying someone is wrong online, doesn't make you correct'. Woah deep... minds blown.

Yeah you could explain why you're so sure you're a better judge of talent than Silva and Brands who have watched him extensively and come to the conclusion that he's a top talent ? You've dodged that question twice now :p

Mate ... koeman is one of the greatest Dutch CB of all time , a prem and international manager and way more qualified than me. Yet ... I could tell you bolasie was turd and Martina isn’t even a footballer . Managers make mistakes too

Yes of course they can get things wrong but the point is that I don't think neither he nor Brands have made a mistake in judging Lookmans natural ability and generally speaking id trust their judgement over a fans view... if you don't naturally trust their judgement more than the fans then that's rather worrying for Everton !

Theory confirmed. Cool.

So we had a normal conversation about a player, I put forward my views, you put forward yours, we tried to counter each others points, no animosity... then all of a sudden you get eggy and decide to try and make out I was arguing in bad faith. At least I know not to waste my time in future.
