I don't really agree tbh. To fulfil his potential then he needs to be on the move far more and he needs to threaten in behind. I rarely saw it.

Fair enough.

I see him as more of a dribbler and a player who likes go get on the ball though. He's not a Walcott type who rushes in behind. He's not actually that quick over the ground without the ball compared to Walcott/Rich/Bernard. But when he has the ball at his feet he's one of those players who can keep up a sprint speed which is why he can be dangerous running with it and prefers to do it that way.

We love a player putting in effort and all that but sometimes it's not that they're not putting in effort, it's just it is simply not playing to their strengths.

Like I said, it's one of them. It hasn't worked out and now he's likely to move on. We've made a decent profit and it's a real shame but not the end of the world as at the moment he just doesn't quite fit.

Can't believe his only goal for us is the one on his debut, Absolutely mad to think about.
I stand by that he'll turn into a fantastic player for RBL and inflate his price to double what we sold him for. He's pretty raw still but so talented, Shame it didn't work out.
no way will he turn out to be a fantastic player.

Worst case for us is this turns out like Sancho has. Attitude questioned because he ran his contract down and got moody that City wouldn't get him in the first team so he runs off to Germany and turns into one of world football's top young talents. Scary thing is Lookman was every bit as good in his loan at RBL. I can't talk myself into this one.

And that quote about him not working hard enough is basically a throw away quote used by managers in every sport to justify selection.

"Why arent you picking ABC?"
"Well XYZ is showing more in training so ABC needs to work harder and perform better to get his chance."
It's been done thousands of times. Amazing how much people have used that one interview to justify their judgement on the kid.

People will use anything they want to justify their judgement of a player. There are plenty of people on this forum who will tell you that he's "oozing with talent" who are only saying that because they've heard others suggest it so often that they assume it must be true.
