When has it happened? £22m for a footballer who doesnt want to be here, has contributed the square root of squat aint throwing him away.

I get that you have a thing about the player. Maybe its a Merican thing, dunno, but in football, decisions need to be taken. He did not contribute anything to EFC. Ever. So £22m for a player who has not contributed a bean to the club in a realisable way, is fantastic business.

It was a nightmare situation, but we've close to doubled our money on Vlasic (and certainly will once the sell on fee kicks in) and trebled our money on Lookman. It's not a bad consolation prize, as long as lessons are learnt.

Agreed. I'll still hold my breath that those two don't hit seriously high levels though.

Only if 22m is close to what his maximum value is. If he grows into a 50m player at RBL we have both thrown away extra money and the prospect of having a player of that level in our team. The money looks good today. I'm concerned it won't in a few years.

I don't think either of those can really count. They had both played over 100 league games when we signed them. They're closer to the Digne and Gomes category than to say Richarlison or Lookman.

It’s a big if at this point, now he’s got the move, it’s up to him to back it up and prove his loan spell there wasn’t a fluke born out of frustration

He’s been here for a few years and hasn’t progressed at all.
What makes you think he’s going to suddenly become a 50mil player here?

He could just as easily continue to unimpress and his value would drop.

If he does well at RBL, then good for him.
He doesn’t want to be here, he wants to be there, we cashed in at the right time.

Ya I have ... and I can’t get it. I honestly felt if he was a Silva signing he would have been played a lot more. Silva needed to give “his” men all the chances he could to adapt as that was a key measure of success. I honestly think that had a role to play.

His attitude in training might have been poor but this is paper talk based on something Silva said. But not on the field ..I was only ever impressed ...

So Silva might have had his reasons... (might have felt disrespected at some point maybe.. managers would rather let their best sit on the bench if they a touch rude) .. but I don’t buy them or don’t like them. Opinions eh..

Not the first kid we have moaned wasn’t given a tangible shot.. just the biggest head scratcher in years to me... Dowell hasn’t achieved half that Lookman has at a top level.. yet still we wait patiently.

Edit: forgot to add. I can only judge on game time.. I never had an issue with his attitude on the pitch.

Said me piece... best for all is my summary.
