No. The good ones we sell, we know are good.

Exhibit A. Rooney.

The "good" ones we sell, quite often turn to mince.

Exhibit B. Francis Jeffers.
Right but I'm asking about when we sell someone we think is not doing it and then he turns out to be quite good at doing it. Or at least good enough that we should have kept him around instead of who we did keep.

I know when we sell good or "good" players we mostly end up winning either on the fee or the fact that the guy isn't that good like Rodwell.

The talent has never been in doubt, but lets see if he can keep it up for a full season instead of every now and again.
That's fair, but here is why I don't think that is an issue.

He's had two periods since he originally transferred to us when he was given consistent and meaningful minutes. This current run at Fulham where he has been very good. I don't think anyone will fight me on that. The other was his original loan to RBL where he scored 5 and assisted 4 in 11 appearances. The only issue has always been getting on the field.

He wasnt much good here. Why, heaven only knows. Klassen to.

Both are doing ok at other clubs. It happens.

Fergie sold Paul McGrath to Villa cos he was a liability down to booze. He had the best years of his career under Graham Taylor. It happens.

The issue is that he appears to sulk when he doesn't get picked.

Think Klaassen is a different level but fair enough.

What you've said at the end there is what I mean though. It is always something the player did, whether legitimate like that one or not.

Are there any examples of us selling a player and him turning good where we collectively go "well the club screwed that up?"

I mean there aren't many examples of it happening to be fair, but for all of them it seems like the fans go to blame the player for doing this and that first and not so much blaming the club for its failings to figure it out.

I agree though, my blanket statement was probably wrong about Evertonians wanting to absolve the club.
Seriously? It happens every time someone we let go has a good game. There's people who slated Walcott non stop for 2 years now saying the club dropped a clanger letting him go. There are people who still blame the club 10 years later for playing Bilyaletdinov in the position he actually played in, rather than the position they imagine in their head he would have been better in. Christ, there's a decent faction on here who want us to buy Liam Walsh back every time he has a good game in the Conference North.

I sometimes wonder whether our fans are interested in football or body language with how often we talk about sulking. I feel like a lot of people should check out a soap opera instead.

Anyway footballer being disappointed at not playing football. I've maintained I have no issue.

Same as with Richarlison currently in that I'm not arsed about goalscorer being upset at not scoring goals.

I thought the Walcott posts were more along the lines of "why couldn't Theo hit a barn door when he was here?" but maybe I'm just misreading that. I also thought the frustration with the club was less about Walcott and more about us not having backups. Like if we signed Josh King (LOL) people wouldn't care Walcott left.

I don't think I was supporting the club when Bilyaletdinov was still around but I know the "He's a #10" meme.

Maybe I'm just blind to it. I'll keep my eyes open.

It really isnt mate. A player is judged at what he did here. If he does well after leaving, most say fair play, didnt work out, and move on.

Some will get abuse on return, but that will be cos they acted like a tit at a new club, (Rooney), but most will be afforded some respect.

There is always a reason a player is sold. Lookmans seemed to be he didnt really like it here, wasnt given much game time, and the fee was pretty good. Wish him well.

But he is no loss, team wise, to Everton.

Well ive said countless times his talent isn't an issue, so there must be another reason so many other managers have just ignored him.

Scott Parker isn't a good manager, so we should ignore everything he does.

If he keeps Fulham up then he has to be considered at least average I think. Maybe they'll give him the England job on it.
