is he available for Leipzig tonight? the european comp cup tied rules are strange to say the least. mkhitaryan isnt cup tied for arsenal but aubameyang is.

The only thing is strange if Arsenal played in the Champions League this season! The reason why Mkhitaryan isn't cup tied is that he's not playing in Champions League for Arsenal while Aubameyang cannot play Champions League for two different clubs in a season.

No. Mkhitaryan can play because he's played in the CL but not the Europa, and his former club is still in the CL. Aubameyang can't play because although he played in the CL, his former club is now in the Europa and so he's not eligible. Lookman, I believe, can play because while he's played in the Europa for us, we're now out and so he's not classed as cup tied. So i'd have to agree with @mightymoyes and say it's all very confusing!

I'm under the belief they can play in a different competition, but not the same competition, but it's restricted one of the player.

I think, in Arsenal's case is that it was only one of Mkhitayan or Aubemeyang, assuming they didn't know for sure, they chose the former.

I could be completely wrong, but the rule about the one "Cup-tied" player seems too familiar to not be true.

If you play in the CL or EL you cant then go and play in the Europa League for another team. But if you've only played in the Europa League or not at all, you can play in the CL for another team.

I łove Lookman, but his ten minutes were not good for RBL. He should have played more for us, no question, but he has no idea how to defend. He was caught in space and missed several tackles/interceptions. I know he's a good offensive player and the game was in control, but he does need to work on that part of his game for sure. The loan should help in that regard.

In that cameo he showed you the good and bad. But frankly I can't name one player who ever got better by not playing.
That's why I (against my better judgement) actually agree with Allardyce on this one. His deficiencies are such that he couldn't really be trusted to start many games for us, but it seems that he may not start many games for Leipzig either. Getting 10-15 minutes off the bench won't really develop that side of his game, so I would have much preferred he went to the Championship and played 90 minutes most weeks to become a more rounded player.

You are right in case of Miki and Auba. But in case we (BVB) would play in the CL round of 16, there would also be only player allowed to play for Arsenal. There is only one player you can nominate which had played in a tournament before. For example: Akanji is not alloewd to play for Borussia, because we chose Batshuayi to play.

Lookman is not allowed to play for Leipzig in the competition because he played for Everton in the same tournament.

I tend to agree but I see the positives in this move. 1) he will be training with some world class players, with high expectations. 2) The manager has used him in both games - showing that he's committed to playing him. 20 minutes every week is better than nothing and he's playing against better competition. The reservation I would have had with Derby, is the Championship might be too easy for him. Sometimes we learn faster with some failure. 3) He's gone to a foreign country where he doesn't speak the language and has to live on his own. This will do wonders for his maturity growth.
