But all of the top 4 will win at Bournmouth, and the Chelsea of today are not the Chelsea we beat.I'm not denigrating us as a team, just being realistic, with the money we have EL is the best we can hope for

They may well do mate, although they did get a result from Leicester at home as well, as for the Chelsea of today not being the same one we faced - i agree since we beat them they have been in even worse form and hammered on several other occasions - when we beat them most predicted that they would turn the season around and still be in the title race, now people have all but written them off for top 4.

Are we a outsider - yup, do we have no chance - ofc we have a chance, the rs have spent lots more for example, but of those millions how much would actually walk into our starting 11?

The league this season is more wide open than it ever has been and can't suddenly see 4 teams getting there act together and storming away

From the point of view of entertainment I think we are playing better stuff now than we have in 25 years. We have a young team, and we will make mistakes along the way but the curve is upwards and notwithstanding the strength of competition around us in a better position to compete since 2008/9.
Obviously it's disjointed and we have very good performances followed by average performances, but some of the touch and pace in this team's play is breathtaking. In years to come people will be saying "remember the time we had Barkley, Deulofeu, Lukaku and Stones in the same team?!". They are on their way to being top players in their positions...the very top players in their positions.

Still, we did only got a point against Bournemouth, so let's throw the baby out with the bathwater.

I'm not saying you're wrong, and maybe Matinez is in a way to be blamed. But I really believe that focus and concentration for longer than 45 minutes is a given for a team and its players. And it's kind of sad that a coach should remind the players of this. Maybe we could use one or two leaders on the pitch who'll wake the rest up when they're falling asleep.

It was the tactics that were wrong. Kone and Barkley didn't really seem to know what they were supposed to be doing second half which is why they gave the ball away so much. That was 100% Martinez' fault as was not making any substitutions to change the flow of the game.

Disagree. We're a highlights team. A lot of our play is shambolic. Even in the Sunderland and Villa games we only really played well for 40 minutes.

They might also say 'Remember when we had Barkley Deulofeu Stones and Lukaku in the same team and won nothing finishing ninth. Upto Martinez to improve on the current showing. We cannot let this generation pass without doing something of note.

But you dont want to give him the time to roll out the development of these players to fruition!

See how daft that position is when you say something else like that? ^^^

It is open this season true, but we won't win at City,Chelsea,Anfield and Old Trafford and we didn't win at Tottenham or Arsenal, and getting wins at least a few of these grounds is what you need to do to be credible CL contenders.I do hope I'm proved wrong, but we'll need to get a much tighter defence to get anything from any of them.

He won't get the time and you know this as well as I do. In 2 years times we will be lucky if one of those players (probably Barkley) still here. We can talk about development all day long but currently right now Lukaku is one of the league's best strikers, Deulofeu will probably top the assists chart or be very close, Barkley won't be too far behind, Stones is already one of the best centrebacks in Europe. We've had a few seasons of them developing. In the cruel world of modern football this team was precocious in 2013. When this season ends we'l have had this group of stars for three seasons and if we are empty handed again unfortunately we'll have nothing to show for it. They will not stick around for the promise of future success or just to play nice football.

Apparently there's a book coming out in time for christmas entitled Everton 2015 : The Great Entertainers.

Features forewords by Bill Kenwright and Little from Little and Large.

There's also talk of a DVD but they're worried that might be a bit over the top if we don't actually win anything.

I am somewhat disappointed at the EVE fans that ran onto the pitch. If you were going to go to that extent to celebrate a late goal against the worst team in the League, you should have toasted with Champagne, tossed confetti, threw softboiled eggs, ate the heads off of rubber chickens or something!!!! Onto Middlesborough!

yes, a lame attempt at humor.....

Interesting read, thought it was a good match and on the balance of play a draw was probably a fair result. I've no idea why we didn't sub off Cook or Federici when they both got injured in the first half as you completely dominated in that period. Both came off at half time and we looked a different side in the second half, although you could equally argue that your levels dropped off significantly when McCarthy went off injured.

Having seen Smith try to shoot on quite a number of occasions the bemused look on his face when it went in the top corner was probably because he thought it was an optical illusion and, in fact, the ball was safely slotted into it's usual safe spot after a shot from him in row Z. Still, I thought he gave your full back an absolute roasting from the moment he came on so maybe deserved one to go in for once.

My take on the injury time is like this. A minimum of 5 minutes indicated which doesn't mean 5.00 but could equally mean 5.59.

Barkley scored on 4.45. So between 15 and 74 seconds to go. Normally the clock would keep turning for the celebrations but if there's a pitch invasion the ref will stop the clock and won't start it again until the ball is back in play.

So when we kicked off instead of there being the 0 seconds left there would have been if your fans had stayed off the pitch, there was 15 to 74 seconds left. I think we scored about 30ish seconds later and straight after the new kick off he blew up.

I'm not blaming the fans as you can understand them getting a bit excited having got out of jail a little in injury time but I think if they'd stayed off the pitch we wouldn't have had the chance to score.

Some have said he added time for the invasion and I don't think it's that, it's that he stopped the clock when the invasion started.

As an aside, I thought it was a bit lacking in class from Martinez to claim it was a hopeful punt into the box when Daniels has landed a cross right on Junior's head. Probably just irritation getting the better of him though.

We've had some absolute shockers from refs this season already (them lot up the road from you absolutely got away with it against us, good goal for us disallowed and a goal so clearly offside for them but given that the PL sent a letter to all the clubs saying it should have been disallowed, Swansea got about the softest penalty you'll see this season last week and so on) and some horrible luck/players not taking their chances (absolutely battered Newcastle, should have been 5-0, but somehow contrived to lose, dominated Villa with the same result and more again). Add to that an insane spate of injuries to key players that you're probably bored of hearing about which has meant major tactical changes since the start of the season with which we're only just starting to get to grips but that corner is now turning. All of which is to say, I don't think come the end of the season you'll view a point at Dean Court as badly as some of you rate it now.

I'm genuinely surprised how poor some PL teams are. I thought we were going to get spanked most weeks but I actually feel at this point pretty confident we'll stay up. Unless we get another three cruciate injuries...

All in all though, football eh? Bloody hell.

Good luck for the rest of the season. One game aside, of course.

Heya mate, honestly don't begrudge you the result as the way you played second half and kept trying till the death deserved something and the way we basically thought the game was won at half time and decided to go home deserved exactly what we got as it was arrogant and ultimately cost us.

You keep showing that attitude and with a little more luck going your way than you've had this season you should be able to just about stay up and hope you do tbh as i like teams that show a bit of fight and don't buckle to what people think they should be, plus Howe is a top top bloke by all accounts and a blue ;)
